The Walking Dead will be returning on February 20th on AMC and February 13th for those who have AMC+. We are now coming to the halfway point of the final season, and it appears as though the story is picking up where it left off.

How a barely two-minute trailer can tell us so much and yet so little is quite the skill. While I would love to dissect every aspect of the trailer, I’d rather focus on the parts that really stood out to me.

First and foremost, will The Reapers Arc wrap up? There are several shots showing Daryl, Negan, and Maggie dealing with the surviving Reapers. (Negan himself gets a handle on one in particular).

Another scene specifically shows Leah meeting with Daryl. Fans remain divided over Daryl and Leah’s established relationship as is, but does that warrant her death?

The Walking Dead Season 11B is returning on February 20th on AMC.

It may if she doesn’t choose him over her lethal family. This, however, would also mean Daryl would lose someone that he loves and may not recover from it.

Secondly, Alexandria is found by The Commonwealth. This isn’t at all surprising, as most fans knew this day was coming.

Alexandria is barely holding on, and our heroes need somewhere else to go. The dire situation is perfectly shown as we see Judith and Gracie possibly getting rescued by Aaron.

The Commonwealth logically makes sense, as it can potentially be their final residence. Staying on topic with The Commonwealth, several characters are seen adjusting to life there, but is it all just an act.

We see Carol back to her old routine of presenting cookies and a fake smile while watching everything that moves. She isn’t the only one, as we see Magna doing the same, as well as some awkward encounters with her ex Yumiko.

While we see the governor of The Commonwealth Ms. Pamela Milton as a saving grace, Mr. Lance Hornsby is painted almost like a villain. The shot of him sitting in near-complete darkness with a look of utter disgust was not easily missed.

I’m thinking there is some sort of inner turmoil between the politicians.

Thirdly, what does the future hold for our heroes?

They are a solid group and have been for several seasons (some since the beginning), but will they fall apart once they are living at The Commonwealth? While their bonds and loyalties are strong and have survived tests before, is The Commonwealth going to break them apart?

I’m really hoping this isn’t the case. Yes, The Commonwealth can provide new beginnings, so to speak, for the likes of Negan and perhaps even The Princess, but it can also force others to choose this new life over their old one.

Regardless, I am excited to see what happens next while dreading the inevitable fate some characters might face in the process.
