Dafne Keen among others returning for His Dark Materials season 3
The third and final season of BBC and HBO’s His Dark Materials, based on the books by Philip Pullman has yet to receive an official release date. Thankfully we do know which cast members are returning to reprise their roles as well as the names of some new additions.
According to DigitalSpy, BBC confirmed that Dafne Keen, Amir Wilson, Ruth Wilson, Simone Kirby, Ruta Gedmintas, Will Keen, and James McAvoy will be returning. Their characters no matter how big or small have been essential, especially in season 2 as Lyra (Keen) is able to actually venture to other worlds along with Will (Wilson) getting one step closer to solving the mystery behind “dust” and what Lord Asriel’s (McAvoy) plans truly are.
Even though Lyra is currently in quite the predicament now her that mother Mrs. Coulter (Ruth Wilson) has found her and has access to the alethiometer, her story is far from over just yet.
The same article details, “some new faces have been added to the cast: Suicide Squad’s Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Commander Ogunwe, ‘The Durrells’ Jamie Ward as Father Gomez, Amber Fitzgerald-Woolf as Ama, and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (Justice League), Simon Harrison (Endeavour) and Chipo Chung (Into the Badlands) as rebel angels Balthamos, Baruch and Xaphania respectively.”
Who will be returning for the final season of His Dark Materials?
Last but not least, Sian Clifford (Fleabag) and Jonathan Aris (Good Omens) will also be joining the very expansive cast. While it’s wonderful to see the final season cast obtain more talented actors and actresses, it’s sad to remember which characters didn’t survive season 2.
Come to think of it, which characters won’t survive the final season? True, Lyra would and should survive, Dr. Malone (Kirby) may be in great danger since she has not only learned of “dust” through Lyra but also communicated with The Angels.
While she has a mission to complete, that might not stop forces like The Magisterium from finding a way to keep that kind of information a secret forever. The third and final season has a lot of ground to cover in what will surely be a spectacular season like the ones before it.
