When is the Queen Charlotte Bridgerton spin-off coming out?
As we wait a little bit longer for Bridgerton season 2, arriving on Netflix March 25, we can speculate about the currently filming Bridgerton Queen Charlotte spin-off. This limited series will be a prequel, taking audiences back to Queen Charlotte’s early days on the throne.
She won’t be the only familiar face we’ll see. Both Lady Danbury, played by Adjoa Andoh, and Violet Bridgerton played by Ruth Gemmell on the Bridgerton series will be somehow involved in the story.
Queen Charlotte, played by the superb Golda Rosheuvel has been one of the more elusive characters in season 1 of the romantic historical drama. She is strong, intelligent, beloved but also hiding a large amount of pain due to her husband’s unfortunate condition, which puts a strain on their marriage.
She holds a large amount of power, especially in the lives of those who wish to marry, but where does her story truly begin? Whattowatch shared the following from a Netflix press release, “A limited prequel series based on the origins of Queen Charlotte, that will center on the rise and love life of a young Charlotte. The spinoff will also tell the stories of young Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury.”
What do we know so far about the Queen Charlotte Bridgerton spin-off?
Does this mean we may see a young King George III? We will finally meet the future Mr. Bridgerton?
While a trailer has not be released, and we do not know which actresses will be playing younger versions of Queen Charlotte, Lady Danbury, and Violet Bridgerton, we do know that filming has been going on since January with an expected completion date of May 2022.
Does this mean the spin-off will be released sometime at the end of this year? Or will it be pushed towards a 2023 date?
It wouldn’t be surprising if any sort of definitive release date is withheld until Bridgerton season 2 has been aired on Netflix. Until then we can enjoy watching her, dressed in the most beautiful gowns wearing jaw-dropping wigs and trying to solve the Lady Whistledown mystery.
