Yes, Queen Charlotte has surely made sure than even the smallest detail is perfect for Anthony and Edwina’s wedding. While Anthony and his brothers drink in celebration the day prior, Edwina bonds with her mother and sister.

When the dawn of the big day arrives, Anthony is still assessing the marriage as more of a duty than a celebration. The church is full and after Kate takes her place at the altar, Edwina arrives in a beautiful white dress.

The ceremony has hardly begun, and Anthony cannot stop looking at Kate as he imagines marrying her instead. Nervously Kate fiddles with bracelets from back home when one falls off.

Both she and Anthony reach for it when suddenly everything becomes clear in Edwina’s eyes. She flees from the altar in a panic.

Away from everyone’s watchful eyes Edwina breaks down in front of Kate and their mother. She now knows the truth that Anthony is in love with Kate.

She feels stupid for never noticing it sooner. Edwina accuses Kate of controlling her when Kate only ever had her sister’s best interest in mind.

It’s not her fault for falling for the Viscount. Kate flees, hiding in a closet while Anthony and his family try to access what to do next.

The rest of the wedding guests wait outside where they can admire the gardens, food, and of course, gossip. Queen Charlotte purposely has one of her loyal servants to spread a false rumor to see who listens to it and if Lady Whistledown will write it in her pamphlet.

Anthony speaks with Edwina finally confessing that his marriage to her is one out of practicality, not love. It will be up to her to accept that and marry him or not.

Kate finally calms down and leaves the closet spotting Anthony. He follows her inside the closet and the two struggle to deal with what has just happened.

Kate cannot bear to be alone with him and leaves. When she returns to her family, Edwina stands up for herself and claims that whatever decision she makes, it will be hers alone.

Even though Edwina loves Anthony she deserves the same love in return if not more. In the end, the wedding is canceled.

Both Kate and Anthony receive notes to meet at the church where they finally share a very passionate kiss.

Bridgerton Season 2 Episode 6 recap – King George

Feeling embarrassed and weary of what Lady Whistledown will write next, Queen Charlotte is angered and upset that Edwina is thinking of calling off the wedding. Edwina politely asks that she spend some time to make a final decision.

Queen Charlotte partly puts the blame on Lady Danbury, since it was she who convinced the queen to choose Edwina as the Diamond of the First Water. As they wait along with Violet Bridgerton for Edwina and her mother to arrive it’s already clear to audiences what will transpire.

When Edwina and her mother arrive, and begin to explain with utmost respect, King George unexpectedly enters the room. He had seen and loved the fireworks preemptively going off when Edwina fled the church.

While jolly, he is crazed, believing that he is going to be marrying Queen Charlotte. The room is silent, even the queen cannot respond.

Edwina takes it upon herself to calm the confused king and he leaves the room. The event makes Queen Charlotte see Edwina in a new light, appreciating her bravery and kindness.

However, the scene as whole, like the last time we saw King George in season 1 was utterly heartbreaking.

As the guests wait outside, Portia Featherington and Cousin Jack believe now is the time to try to obtain investors. Portia does warn Cousin Jack that she does not want the Bridgertons involved in their scheme.

Again, another reason why I actually like Portia. She could be seen as a frenemy to Violet Bridgerton but deep down I think she has a lot of respect for the family.

Even if she has an unconventional way of showing it. Cousin Jack shares a flirtatious comment or two towards Portia before their plan begins.

He remains charismatic as always, but still can’t seem to fool Mr. Mondrich. But the two agree to meet at his gentlemen’s club to discuss matters further.

Eloise finally tells Penelope the whole truth to which Penelope wonders if her best friend has actually feelings for Theo. Eloise seems unsure herself, as she viewed him at the first person to truly share her thoughts and ideas.

She wants to speak with Theo, but Penelope warns her not to go. Eloise leaves anyway causing one of Queen Charlotte’s servants to follow her.

He spots her talking with Theo and later provides the queen with who they think is Lady Whistledown. This probably means Eloise will be falsely accused.

Yikes…

Bridgerton Season 2 Episode 6 review

The decision not to marry Anthony Bridgerton, while convenient for both him and Kate, was enough to prove that Edwina is mature and intelligent. From the moment we first meet her she is young, innocent, and delicate.

Kate was outspoken, stubborn, and clever. While Edwina had moments throughout the season where she exceeded expectations, this was the first time she came out of her shell completely.

Why should she settle with a man who doesn’t love her the way she loves him? Why should she marry a man her sister loves just to spite her?

Although her cruel words towards Kate were out of anger and heartbreak, Kate does not deserve all the blame. She never intended to trick her sister nor control her.

Kate has put Edwina’s happiness above her own her entire life. We only got to see a portion of it on screen but there is no denying how much Kate sacrificed for her sister.

But now that Anthony is no longer engaged to Edwina will he marry Kate? How will Kate and Anthony proceed?

How will the ton react to this news? What is more concerning is what will happen to Eloise?

Will Queen Charlotte accuse her of being Lady Whistledown? Is a new love going to blossom between Portia Featherington and Cousin Jack?

It looks as though he admires her not just for her beauty but mind as well. Season 2 is almost over and I’m anxious to see what awaits everyone in the ton.

Yes, I am also curious if Cressida Cowper will once again remain unwed.
