These top five moments from Bridgerton Season 2 are worth talking about!

Netflix’s Bridgerton season 2 is here, and the historical fiction and romance drama based on the books by Julia Quinn was able to add more drama, romance, and scandal than we expected! This means we have to create another list of moments we still cannot stop thinking about for better and worse.

After all, these characters are just as much human as we are, and even in the year 1814, life is far from perfect. The following are the top 5 moments from Bridgerton Season 2.

Before going forward, spoilers ahead for those who have not caught up with the show. Listed in no particular order, let’s begin!

Best Bridgerton Season 2 moment: Edmund Bridgerton

Anthony Bridgerton had a very confusing and somewhat cruel way of viewing love. When it becomes his turn to marry, he’s dreadful to himself and others.

His standards for a suitable wife seemed impossibly high and he figured a love would grow throughout his marriage. Hopefully.

We didn’t know why he had such feelings about love until we learn how his father, Edmund Bridgerton died. Anthony was a young man when his father is stung by a bee and dies nearly instantly.

This event traumatized him all the while his family looked to him as the new Viscount and his mother was very pregnant with the youngest Bridgerton child, Hyacinth. Anthony saw the pain and suffering his mother went through and couldn’t bear to cause such pain onto someone else.

No matter how hard his mother and sister Daphne tried to help him view love and their marriages in another light, Anthony couldn’t be convinced.

Best Bridgerton Season 2 moment: Anthony and Kate meet

Sometimes fate works in mysterious ways. Anthony Bridgerton, the Viscount, had been down on his luck when season 2 begins.

Between being responsible for his family, including the finances, and his inability to meet a decent woman to meet any of his standards, it looked as though he wasn’t going to have much luck in finding a wife. Little did he know that he’d meet his future bride one early morning on the way home from visiting a prostitute.

Kate Sharma was riding her horse without a chaperone and seemed to take delight in racing the young Viscount. While the two exchanged more sarcasm than actual details about each other, it was obvious Anthony was smitten by Kate.

She was already far different from any woman he met and knew in the ton. It may actually be the first time we see a genuine smile from the eldest Bridgerton child.

It’s in this first moment together that Anthony and Kate seem intrigued by the other and left wondering when they’d meet again.

Best Bridgerton Season 2 moment: Eloise learns who Lady Whistledown is

Penelope Featherington had a thorough routine when it came to writing her latest Lady Whistledown gossip. She kept all evidence and the money she earned in her floorboards and posed as Lady Whistledown’s servant which included a very strong Irish accent.

Penelope was a self-proclaimed wall flower at parties which enabled her to hear everything while remaining discreetly unnoticed. Her best friend, Eloise Bridgerton, had been trying to figure out who Lady Whistledown is since season 1.

When she had finally accepted that she’d never unmask her, Queen Charlotte accused her of being said gossiper. Penelope does all that she can to protect her friend and herself.

But in the end it was Penelope’s slip up that was her undoing. Eloise figures it all out and the two share a very emotional scene during the season 2 finale.

After all the yelling and tears are over, Penelope tries to find Eloise to somehow recover their friendship. She is unable to find her before the end of the party.

While the two will most likely ignore each other in season 3, Penelope has not stopped writing as Lady Whistledown either.

Best Bridgerton Season 2 moment: The Dinner

Kate Sharma and Lady Danbury were the only ones who knew that if Edwina married someone the Sheffield family approved of, then they would pay her dowry. This was but one of many secrets Kate was harboring to protect her little sister.

But we all knew that once the Sheffield’s were in the same room as their daughter, Lady Mary Sheffield Sharma, that everything would go south. At it did at an alarming rate.

The dinner we’re talking about was meant to have Anthony and his mother Lady Violet Bridgerton meet Edwina’s grandparents. The same people who basically disowned their own daughter due to her choice to marry for love and not status.

Once the secret was out and after a barrage of yelling and stress, Anthony Bridgerton firmly asks for the Sheffields to leave. In that moment Anthony is experiencing two feelings.

He is angered by their treatment of the woman he wants to marry. He is also somewhat relieved as this could cancel the engagement without tarnishing Edwina and make him free to pursue Kate.

Kate is able to persuade Anthony to still marry Edwina and the two sisters fight over this secret. It’s one of the sadder moments of season 2 but at the same time has some of the best acting.

Plus who doesn’t love watching Anthony defending the Sharmas?

Best Bridgerton Season 2 moment: The Happy Ending

While both Anthony and Kate fought their feelings for one another they finally gave in and professed their love for one another during the season 2 finale. All season long audiences waited and wondered when they would simply be together.

But one event after another prevented them so. Including their stubbornness and fears.

After they finally shared an intimate night together, and after almost losing Kate in the days that followed, Anthony decides to go for broke. He tells Kate the truth about his feelings for her and she does the same.

They share a passionate kiss with fireworks in the background. They are wed off screen and show no signs of expressing anything less than utter affection and devotion for each other.

It’s a most satisfying ending to the season and I’m sure their love story is only beginning.
