Moon Knight‘s latest episode titled “The Tomb” revealed another hint at a third personality. By this point in the limited Disney Plus and Marvel Studios series audiences have gotten to know Marc Spector and Steven Grant.

The two battle for control over the body they share while trying to arrive at Ammit’s tomb before the show’s villain, Arthur Harrow does. They find the tomb actually belongs to Alexander the Great, and within his mummified mouth is the stone statue of Ammit.

Harrow and his men arrive and surprisingly kill Marc. As he fades in and out of consciousness he awakes in a mental hospital where, sure enough, Harrow is a doctor.

But the entire show couldn’t have been a figment of Marc’s imagination, right? No this is where Moon Knight snuck in another third personality sighting.

Marc and Steven may soon be facing another personality waiting patiently to be accepted in Moon Knight.

As Marc hides from the mental hospital staff, he finds a sarcophagus laying on the floor and violently shaking. Upon opening it Steven is released.

How the two of them have their own bodies, we don’t know. Together the two try to escape when Marc passes another open room with another sarcophagus.

This time it’s standing straight up and not moving. Marc ignores it and at the end of the hall both he and Steven are greeted by the Egyptian Goddess Taweret.

Our theory about this whole scene? The third sarcophagus is a third personality and Marc willingly ignored it.

But why? Marc and Steven are nearly complete opposites and while it has been Marc’s duty as Moon Knight (Khonshu’s avatar), Steven has been getting involved, often against his will.

In the previous episode titled “The Friendly Type” Marc and Steven were not responsible for the deaths of several men. This means a third personality had to have been involved.

While Marc and Steven haven’t mentioned this possibility with each other, maybe Marc suspects this. It would explain why he ignored the second sarcophagus that was literally waiting patiently in an open room.

It was just begging and waiting to be opened. If it was opened, then Marc would be willingly accepting this third personality which means he’d be sharing control with another person.

Marc already has enough trouble taking control from Steven, (not to mention Steven complicating his relationship with Layla) and we’d doubt he’d want to share his body with another personality. But who is this third personality?

When will they make an official appearance? We already theorized that the third personality had revealed itself in episode one “The Goldfish Problem” but we have yet to see this confirmed.

Two episodes remain of this incredibly written and performed series and we look forward to meeting this mystery personality. The question is, will they be helpful or hurtful to Marc and Steven’s mission and life thereafter?
