Will Luke’s training begin during the Obi-Wan Kenobi series?
We are halfway through the Disney Plus Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi and we haven’t seen much of Luke Skywalker. It has been established that Obi-Wan Kenobi, going by the name Ben, has been living on Tatooine and watching the young Skywalker from a safe distance.
He’s patiently waiting for the day his Jedi abilities reveal themselves, hoping to train him. However, Luke’s uncle Owen does not want his nephew to be trained.
Aside from the obvious reason, Owen has to worry about Luke being discovered by Inquisitors who have made it no secret at this point that they want Kenobi. Third Sister Reva has personally made it her life mission to find the Jedi Master and bring him to Darth Vader.
But the series seems to have stepped away from focusing on Luke and instead turned the attention to his twin sister Princess Leia Organa. The little princess was captured, successfully drawing out Kenobi who finds himself running from Inquisitors and his past via Anakin Skywalker as the deadly and malicious Darth Vader.
Has Luke Skywalker’s abilities revealed themselves on Obi-Wan Kenobi?
But once Princess Leia is safely returned to her loving parents, will Kenobi be able to convince Owen to allow Luke’s training to begin? If the Star Wars series follows the films, then no, Luke’s training won’t begin until the first film Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.
In the film, Luke did not know Ben was a Jedi Master but merely assumed him to be an old hermit. When Kenobi saves Luke from Tusken Raiders, he tells the young Skywalker about his father and reveals his lightsaber.
However, the series could take a new approach. Perhaps Kenobi meets Luke or is formally introduced.
Perhaps there is a way for Luke to be trained in a way that we haven’t thought of or seen before. Do you think we’ll be seeing Luke before the season finale?
If so, do you think he’s already showing signs that he is Force-sensitive?
Do you think Obi-Wan Kenobi will change established Star Wars lore? Share your thoughts in the comments below, I’d love to read them!
