This episode of The Umbrella Academy season 3, starts with a flashback to the Commission in 1953. Herb and Dot are walking to the Infinite Switchboard where they find Lila watching the tape of her mother, The Handler, killing her before Five changed these events.
The two Commission executives are protecting Lila from some angry employees and agree to send her to any time period. Lila wants to go to the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Here, Lila finds her mother’s emergency briefcase which means now has a mode of time and space transportation. Still upset about her mom wanting to kill her, Lila goes crazy on the wall until a woman walks up to her and the two form a bond.
This woman would turn out to be Trudy, Stanley’s birth mother. Together Lila and Trudy would form a punk band.
When Trudy leaves for a bass player (again) Lila and Stanley make their way to terrorize Diego.
The Umbrella Academy season 3 episode 7: Umbrellas and Sparrows meet
Reginald is driving while jamming to Nelly’s “Must Be the Money” when a knocking comes from his trunk. The old man pulls over to inform Klaus that he was dead for 22 minutes and must get better at this.
Viktor wakes up to find Harlan and Allison are gone with Harlan’s tape player and headphones left behind. Allison is not any better after handing over Harlan to the Sparrows, something Luther is worried about.
He talks about making decisions as a family which Allison laughs at since he is the one wearing the Sparrow uniform. Sloane intrudes to announce Ben has called a family meeting of Sparrows and Umbrellas, something Allison is blindly ready for with her pain-filled tunnel vision.
In the White Buffalo Suite, Diego is freaking out about Stanley while Lila and Five have realized he was kugelblitzed. Five has directed his focus to the mysterious door since everything he has learned from his old self to Pogo has led him to “Oblivion.”
Nobody can pass through since this is when Luther and Sloane arrive to inform them of wanting the two families to work together to stop the kugelblitz. In The Sparrow Academy’s main room, awkward small talk occurs before Luther tries bridging the gap between both groups.
This all comes to a close when Viktor storms in asking about Harlan. He looks to the Sparrows before his only sister explains she killed Harlan.
Allison shares with everyone that Harlan killed their mothers and Viktor was protecting him, putting them all in danger. The two trade verbal and personal jabs that lead to Allison using her upgraded powers, from Harlan’s bubble, to make Viktor close his mouth without having to say, “I heard a rumor”.
After Luther gets Allison to stop using her powers, she throws one last haymaker when she states, “We should have left you in the basement.” Viktor slaps his sister for this before leaving the main room and to be alone.
The Umbrella Academy season 3 episode 7: Practice makes perfect for Klaus
Away from the Umbrellas and Sparrows, Viktor finds himself in Ben’s room. He looks around this familiar yet unfamiliar space to see an easel filled with portrait drawings of a woman with the name “Jennifer” on them.
Klaus has now been upgraded from the trunk to the front seat where he recaps all the awful things that happened to him and that his dad did to him to this new Reginald. The old man wants a fresh start and to help Klaus master his coming back from the dead power.
Reginald tests Klaus’ reflexes by throwing a ball for him to catch in the middle of the road. As he catches it, a car hits and kills him.
This happens multiple times until Klaus can revive himself in seconds and catch the ball. When this happens, Reginald is excited because Klaus is now “ready.”
Down in The Sparrow Academy basement, the Umbrellas finally see the kugelblitz and begin wondering how they can stop it. Sloane and Five say a lot of big physics and math words that confuse everyone but convince Five to go with their plan.
Fei states for the plan to work, they need Five, Sloane, Lila, Christopher, and Viktor. The last name makes Allison upset before the audience checks back with Viktor crying in Ben’s room.
Ben finally comes in to call out Viktor for not helping save the world all because of Allison and therefore making Harlan die for nothing. Klaus and Reginald arrive at a cemetery which understandably upsets Klaus.
Reginald explains that he has to confront his past to truly understand who he is and what he is truly capable of.
The Umbrella Academy season 3 episode 7: Ending the Kugelblitz…
Sitting at the Sparrow’s bar, which only has champagne, Lila and Allison have a chat. Allison gives a cynical monologue about how nothing matters.
Lila grounds her and states this is what time travel does so she has to spot like a figure skater and find something that is real to hold on to. The plan is ready to go.
Viktor and Lila encase the orb in Viktor’s sound waves as Sloane uses the gravity inside this case to condense the orb. It is all going smoothly until Grace comes in wearing a Puritan outfit, speaking in supposed Bible verses, and unleashing a flamethrower in the basement.
As this all goes on, Klaus is running through the cemetery until he comes across Reginald. This paternal figure explains how the other version of him was purposefully holding him back.
Klaus takes this and finds the courage to go to the ghosts and unleash a blast, taking them all out. In the basement, Five blinks Grace to the foyer and kills her.
This gives everyone working to stop the kugelblitz all the time they need to complete their plan and trap the orb inside Christopher. Both teams celebrate with champagne with Allison and Viktor still acting in varying levels of grumpy.
The Umbrella Academy season 3 episode 7: …just kidding!
Up on the roof, Luther is getting some air and reading Sloane’s travel guide. He points out all the sights she should see with him.
She flips through the book to find a moon rock ring which leads to Luther proposing and Sloane saying yes. Diego is sitting in the art corner of the house, a place where Grace would often sit, when Lila comes up to him to apologize again for lying about Stanley.
She says she did all of this because she is pregnant and wants to start a family with Diego. This is a lot to take in so naturally Diego needs some time.
Viktor is hiding out in Reginald’s office when Five comes to check on him. Five is not as worried about Allison as he is about Viktor because he went rogue and against the family, similar to a villain.
Five tells Viktor that if his brother lies again, he will kill him personally. In the lounge, Fei and Christopher are upset that Ben is still not done with the Umbrellas since he does not want to kill them yet.
Ben alludes to a plan and agreement he has with Reginald, possibly something to do with Project Oblivion. Fei and Chris agree to reject Ben as their Number One and Fei celebrates this with a clink to Christopher.
This clink reverberates the floating cube until the kugelblitz breaks free with a blast that absorbs Fei and knocks Ben back and down. The episode ends with everyone in the building fleeing with Five barely having enough time to save Ben, and the kugelblitz expanding to the size of The Sparrow Academy.
How do you think Ben will act now that he was saved by an Umbrella? Did Five’s speech to Viktor foreshadow Viktor having a large role in the future?
