Episode eight of The Umbrella Academy season 3 begins with a flashback to 1918. We see a young Reginald Hargreeves walking through a field while examining his surroundings.
When he is done, the man with the monocle shoots a flair that reveals a door. This transitions into Reginald overseeing the construction of The Hotel Obsidian where this passageway is.
The hotel eventually opens and Reginald brings in an army of men to send through the gate. Some time passes when he hears some banging.
When he opens the door, the general is repeating Reginald’s last order and that is “All dead.” A bug crawls out of the recently dead general’s mouth but Reginald squishes it.
The Umbrella Academy season 3 episode 8: Klaus and Reginald return
Returning to the present timeline, the kugelblitz has been growing and collapsing the universe around them. Five, Allison, Diego, Lila, Viktor, Luther, Sloane, and Ben have all regrouped at The Hotel Obsidian’s lounge trying to come up with a plan and wondering where Klaus and their dad is.
Diego and Ben have a toxic masculinity face-off that ends when Five says they are rearranging the chairs on the Titanic. Five explains how his 100-year-old self told him not to save the world so he has decided to let the apocalypse happen since they have tried before and made it worse.
On that somber note, Luther and Sloane announce that they are engaged and will be getting married at 6 pm that day. While they are overjoyed, the rest of their families are rolling their eyes at this puppy dog love story.
After the nuptial announcement, Klaus and Reginald return to the hotel where Klaus learns that his father knows Chet and owns the hotel. The two reunite with everyone in the lounge where Reginald tries to get everyone motivated to train.
Sloane and Ben get a worried look on their face when they find out he is off his medicine. Five confronts his father with his knowledge of Project Oblivion and states he will not be a part of it.
With Luther also prickly towards his father figure and Ben the only one sticking up for Reginald, it is clear he is not welcome here. Klaus notices this so he takes Reginald away.
Following the meeting and everyone dispersing, Luther talks aside with Viktor. The largest brother asks the smallest brother to be his best man.
Viktor accepts with a big smile on his face. They talk about the bachelor party that is in 15 minutes but quiet down when Ben walks by.

Upstairs, Diego is thinking about all of the things going on when Lila walks in and starts forcing him to go to the wedding. He wants to fight like he always does so Lila gives him an ultimatum; either pick her or fight to stop the apocalypse.
After a few seconds, Diego proudly chooses his woman. In the White Buffalo Suite, Reginald and Klaus talk about how Reginald is loathed by the Umbrellas.
Klaus tries to give him some lessons in being less rigid. The old man struggles and is frustrated about wasting time, but Klaus believes they will make it up during the wedding.
At his bachelor party, Luther is first singing karaoke. As he does, Klaus plants seeds of Reginald’s improved behavior.
Five is up next to sing and he chose a duet with Klaus. Luther asks Viktor to talk to Allison since she always was the best of them to Viktor when they were all growing up.
This scene ends with every Hargreeves brother singing together on the stage while Ben looks on. He takes his disgust to Sloane who does not buy it.
She calls out her brother for caring about not getting invited more than the end of the world. When Ben questions Sloane’s allegiance, she asks why he is clinging on to The Sparrow Academy.
He admits out of earshot that it’s because he has nothing else. Down in the hotel’s banquet hall, they all meet up before the ceremony where Allison immediately takes a dig at Viktor.
They go at it for a second before Luther says it is his day and tells them they can’t do this. The two siblings agree just as Sloane arrives looking radiant.

The ceremony and reception go off beautifully well, filled with joy and dancing. Klaus starts throwing out the idea of going to help their dad, but he strikes out with everyone.
Reginald eventually makes his way down and sits alone while trying to look welcoming. Lila forces Diego to introduce her to his father so she can make a great impression with him.
As she walks away, Reginald admires Lila and says it’s a shame since Diego would have been a good dad, something that visually shakes Diego to his core. Trying Ben next, Klaus finds him drinking his sorrows.
He spills his feelings to Klaus, mainly about the bachelor party and why the Umbrellas do not like him but love their Ben. Klaus explains how Ben was warm while he is cold.
He ends this explanation by saying their Ben was a flawed disaster like them while Sparrow Ben is trying too hard to always be perfect.
After this Reginald gets on the mic to give a speech as the father of the bride and compliments the married couple. While this goes on, Viktor tries apologizing to Allison, but she does not forgive her brother and states she never will because she’s done meeting him halfway.
She leaves the hall after this as Reginald finishes his recital of a poem about death. The night comes to a close after they all sit outside for a bit and look up at the apocalyptic sky.
This wholesome moment comes to a close with everyone heading to bed. The episode ends with Five walking back to his room when he has to hurl from eating and drinking too much.
He throws up outside the White Buffalo Suite where he sees Reginald making a handshake with an unknown person before he falls into and passes out in the elevator.
Who do you think Reginald was making this deal with? Do you think Allison will ever forgive Viktor and make up with her brother?
