Baymax is back and ready to help! In Disney Plus Baymax! season 1 episodes 3 and 4 he comes to the aid of Sofia who is experiencing a life-changing moment and later Mbita whose sudden food allergy may change a profession he knows and loves.

Just what kind of life-changing moment is Sofia going through and will Mbita still be able to run his food truck? Let’s find out!

Baymax! Season 1 Episode 3 recap – Sofia

After Baymax’s presentation to a full class, student Sofia makes her way to the bathroom. Not long after her loud exclamations of panic reach Baymax.

Sofia confesses to the lovable hero that she got her first period but doesn’t have any of the necessary supplies. Baymax takes it upon himself to grab what she needs while getting advice from other shoppers.

Upon his return with more than enough sanitary items to last a lifetime, Sofia has made the bathroom a makeshift home, avoiding her classmates and friend Ali. Ali tries to console his friend but the talent show, which the two of them practiced for, is about to begin.

Sofia confesses to Baymax that she’s not ready to grow up. She remembers how her cousin got her period and everyone began to treat her differently.

Baymax assures her that this is normal and that growing up doesn’t mean she has to change. Sofia finds the confidence to enter the talent show with Ali and the two win with their yo-yo skills and techniques.

Baymax! Season 1 Episode 4 recap – Mbita

Mbita’s food truck is successful even though it sells only fish soup. After going to the market and running into his crush Yokio, he begins his day when suddenly he develops a fish allergy.

Baymax arrives to help but Mbita refuses to take the medicine. A full-blown chase ensues as Mbita tries to escape Baymax but fails and finally accepts the medicine.

This new fish allergy is heartbreaking for him as fish soup has been the family business for years. It is all he has ever known.

Baymax believes he can face his fears of the unknown and still be successful. Mbita agrees and returns to the market when he sees Yokio again.

This time he’s brave enough to ask him out on a date. Yokio agrees and the episode ends with Mbita feeling more confident.

Baymax! Season 1 Episodes 3 and 4 review

Both episodes took a step in a new direction for Disney as they cover topics they normally don’t. Periods are a natural progression of life for young girls.

Periods can still be seen as scary, even if girls know what is happening to their bodies. The biggest takeaway was that Sofia saw her period not as a scary event but as her biological goodbye to childhood.

She’s still a kid and isn’t ready to grow up. But the lesson that our bodies change but we don’t have to until we’re ready is worth remembering.

Mbita overcoming several fears, including a possible fear of rejection was relatable and understandable. A lot of people find comfort in what’s familiar.

It’s the unknown, the irregular that terrifies us as we don’t know what to expect. The only issue is that the episode ends before we learn what kind of food Mbita will sell instead of fish soup.

He ventures to the market, but we never see the new path he takes with the food truck.
