In Netflix‘s Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 1 episode 6 titled, “The Lost City” we learn a little more about Wandering Blade’s past and discover where the lost city has been hiding all this time. But what happens when Klaus and Veruca team up with the new cloaked figure?

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight Season 1 Episode 6 recap – Wandering Blade’s Past

Throughout the episode, we catch glimpses into Wandering Blade’s past. We see her older brother Alfie, trains while child Wandering Blade wears a dress and complains about how dull everything is.

She wants to be a knight, but her older brother knows their parents will never allow it. Even still Alfie decides to entertain the idea by asking his sister to bring him two pails of water without touching them.

She tries and fails multiple times until a horse passes by. He brings the water to Alfie.

He’s impressed and decides to test her again. This time she must climb her way out of a well.

With perseverance she is able to climb out and reach her brother. These memories play a huge role in the episode as Wandering Blade and Po are trying to find the lost city in the middle of the desert.

Po is constantly offering good and helpful advice he has heard from several important people in his life, but she refuses to listen.

Unfortunately for them, trouble isn’t far away. What I assumed was a goat is actually a large stag, who questions the little girl and her family about Po’s whereabouts.

Once her family is threatened, she draws the map from memory. As the stag who we later learn is named Colin continues on the journey, Klaus and Veruca follow him, hoping that he will lead them to Po who knows where to find the fire whip.

Thinking they are being slick they follow Colin until he catches them. Instead of fighting they strike a deal; they will help Colin get our heroes and in return they get the map.

Po and Wandering Blade find an oasis but no city. Suddenly an extremely large rock monster appears, and after trying to battle it, Po realizes that this is the actual city. He purposely gets swallowed with Wandering Blade following after him.

Inside they find an abandoned city covered in rocks and moss. They spot what they think is the fire whip with no obvious booby traps.

Wandering Blade takes the whip only for a cackling monkey to appear as the episode closes.

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight Season 1 Episode 6 review

There are a lot of similarities between Wandering Blade and Tigress as I’d mentioned before but at the same time, they have differences as well. The biggest, of course, being their pasts and what drives them to be motivated.

It’s obvious Wandering Blade was very close to her brother and that his death, which I’m sure we’ll see happen in a flashback eventually, really affected her deeply. His death undoubtedly made her more determined to be a knight and thus her life has been devoted to the role since.

As always, this episode was very creative with its use of a giant stone monster being the city itself. It’s not an obvious setup, and while I assumed the city would be underground to hide from the rest of the world, it being within a stone monster was a better idea.

Although I’m not too sure about the new monkey character, this was an easy episode to watch and enjoy. Even if I wished minor characters would stop betraying our heroes who literally helped them.
