Let’s be honest, the fact She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will include fourth wall breaks already makes the Disney Plus series worth watching. Between the trailer and released clips, audiences can pretty much gauge the tone of the upcoming Marvel Studios show.

Even though the CGI has been criticized, the content probably will make up for it. While Deadpool is the king of fourth wall breaking, She-Hulk supposedly did it before him and in a way, she takes a new approach to it.

We saw little samples of it during the trailer and with Tatiana Maslany’s talents, it’s done very well. But the main reason why including this form of comedy is beneficial is simply that, it’s a form of comedy.

One that we haven’t really seen in Marvel outside of Deadpool. Regardless of how dark and depressing some Marvel films and television shows can be, there is always room for comedy.

Will She-Hulk: Attorney at Law effectively use fourth wall breaking?

The world is ending but we need Tony Stark’s sarcasm to lighten the mood. The bad guy may actually kill one of the heroes, but Drax will say something so out of the blue that you can’t help but snicker in response.

The list goes on and on. The humor could be a statement, or something as simple as an action.

Not every joke will land but that’s ok, we rather see the relatability of the characters who are perceived to be perfect and find the positive in the situation than just focus on the negative. There is no doubt that Jennifer Walters (She-Hulk) comes off quirky, hardworking and perhaps a little timid.

But she’ll be put in situations where a fourth wall break will not only be effective but necessary. They might not be as aggressive or unusual as Deadpool’s but we think they’ll bring a different style to the Marvel table.

What do you think? Will She-Hulk be able to deliver comedic fourth wall breaking moments?

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law airs on Disney Plus August 18.
