Much like HBO’s Game of Thrones, AMC’s The Walking Dead often left audiences questioning if their favorite or one of their favorite characters would meet an untimely end. As The Walking Dead’s story grew over the years so did the multiple ways one could meet their death.

Walkers, war, enemies, cannibals, all were possible, and we’ve seen it many times before. In recent seasons, viewers have lost the likes of Carl, Siddiq, Alden, and Henry.

But the core group of characters (aside from Carl) have been mostly spared. However, now that season 11 part 3 grows ever closer, we can’t help but wonder, who won’t survive to see the series conclusion.

One character we can’t help but be concerned about is Aaron. Played by Ross Marquand (Avengers: Infinity War, TV Series Invincible), Aaron first met Rick Grimes and the group back in season 5 as Alexandria’s recruiter.

Will Aaron meet his end thanks to Lance Hornsby on The Walking Dead?

The group of course immediately distrusted him as they had just experienced the horrors of Terminus, tried and failed to save Beth from Grady Memorial Hospital and lost Tyreese. Thankfully Aaron’s words were true, and Alexandria did exist.

In fact, it would become the home of Rick and the group up until recently. Aaron’s character could be best described as hopeful, determined and above all loyal.

His role as a recruiter to find survivors quickly transformed into soldier, leader and father. To Aaron’s advantage, he is often underestimated, but not for long.

The reason why we fear he won’t survive is because it has become apparent to the likes of Lance Hornsby of The Commonwealth how influential and powerful Aaron is. After Rick’s assumed death and Michonne left to find him, Aaron and Father Gabriel took more leadership roles.

However, the group is separated between residing in The Commonwealth and Alexandria with a few stragglers at The Hilltop. Aaron is not ready to abandon Alexandria as it has been their home and his in particular for a long time.

Trying to keep the peace he has done everything possible to satisfy The Commonwealth, but it seems they want all the communities, including The Hilltop and Oceanside. This ultimate plan seems to only be of the work of Lance Hornsby and not Governor Pamela Milton.

All the same, Aaron and Father Gabriel were almost killed in a plan they were not aware of when it came to Riverbend. The mess of a situation left him, Father Gabriel, Maggie and Daryl as Lance’s number one enemies, not to mention the survivors of Riverbend which includes Negan.

Now that Lance’s true nature has been revealed, Aaron is now seen as a liability and threat. What makes him stand out more than Father Gabriel or even Daryl is his role at Alexandria and business relationship with Lance.

Lance looked to Aaron to keep everything in check and to ensure The Commonwealth gets their way. He was unable to due to Maggie but now none of that matters as he and the rest were going to be killed anyway.

We don’t want to see any of our beloved characters go. We’ve been reassured the likes of Daryl, Negan and Maggie will survive thanks to their announced spinoffs, but Aaron might not be so lucky.

For his and Gracie’s sake we truly hope to see him in future The Walking Dead projects and spinoffs.

The Walking Dead season 11 returns on October 2, 2022 on AMC.
