It seems Jennifer’s life may have gotten better or worse now that the world knows her secret. In She-Hulk: Attorney at Law season 1 episode 2 titled “Superhuman Law”, she must decide whether or not to accept her superhero name and questionable new job assignment.

The episode begins with news coverage of Jennifer’s fight with Titania (she hasn’t been named yet) from the previous episode. After a witness to the event comes up with the name, She-Hulk, Jennifer starts accumulating cheering fans!

You’d think this is a good thing however due to Jennifer’s reasonable and selfless actions, her opponent declared a mistrial and she loses her job. She-Hulk has become a liability for other law firms who refuse to hire her.

To make matters worse, she gets invited to a family dinner that is filled with condescending comments and ridiculous questions. Even I wanted the scene to end so I could get out of there.

Out of everyone her father attempts to connect with his daughter, providing her some helpful advice as well as love and support. As Jennifer spends the rest of the night at a bar a mysterious man approaches her.

He was the opposing lawyer responsible for getting her fired but wants to hire her for his law firm. Desperate, Jennifer accepts without knowing the details.

Jennifer is excited to start a new job until she finds out why she was hired. She is to be the face of the superhuman law division which means she must appear in her She-Hulk form.

Jennifer feels as though she didn’t earn the position, appearing more as a show pony for the firm rather than a legitimate and professional lawyer. Her best friend and paralegal Nikki reminds her of the positives this new job will bring.

This however all goes out the window when Jennifer is tasked with representing Emil Blonsky AKA: Abomination; the man who tried to kill her cousin, Bruce. If she doesn’t accept this assignment, she will lose her job.

Jennifer visits Emil as herself in a high-security prison, finding the excessive amounts of security odd once she meets the man. Emil appears as himself, proclaiming to be a changed man and choosing not to be Abomination.

He has taken to writing haikus and expresses how he believed he was the good guy. He believed The Hulk to be the monster and the government tasked him with taking out the threat.

Jennifer finds his words interesting but needs to think before making a final decision to represent him or not.

Jennifer decides to give Bruce a call, explaining in thorough detail her thoughts about representing Emil. Bruce in Hulk form barely gets a word in but understands that Jennifer wants to take the case.

He is supportive, believing the feud between him and Abomination was a long time ago and both have changed. Jennifer hopes to catch up with Bruce however he’s nowhere near home, residing in a spacecraft flying through space.

When Jennifer calls to accept the job, she is told to put on the news. Imagine her shock when she sees that Emil escaped from his confinement and was engaging in fights as Abomination.

This case may be harder to win than she originally thought.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Season 1 Episode 2 review

Episode 2 flowed a lot better! For a half hour or so episode, it didn’t feel rushed or dragged out.

Although I’m sure many will agree that the fact she was fired and couldn’t get a job because of her superpower was extremely unfair, it does make sense. At this point, superheroes and villains have long since existed in the world.

Most people probably still view The Hulk as destructive or unpredictable. Jennifer isn’t at all like that but I’m sure she’ll prove herself in due time.

Let’s face it, sometimes people can’t change. Was anyone really surprised that Emil didn’t turn his life around?

This may be a form of misdirection to make it look like he hasn’t changed. But this will make his case all the harder to win and once Jennifer does, it will show how great of a lawyer she is.
