Previous actress from The Walking Dead will be starring in Wednesday
Recently we learned more about the upcoming Netflix series Wednesday, which included the cast. We were pleasantly surprised to see an actress we knew all too well from The Walking Dead.
In season 9 of the AMC series taking place in a world ridden with walkers (zombies) and dangerous people, The Whisperers decided to show up and change the game. Led by the brutally violent Alpha, these were a group of people who managed to survive by blending in with walkers.
They do so by whispering to each other and wearing walker skin masks. This is where Gamma/Mary arrives, played by Thora Birch who most remember as Dani from the 1993 film Hocus Pocus.
Since then, she has worked on several other films as well as TV shows like Touched by an Angel and Dungeons & Dragons. Birch’s Gamma became a likable character as she struggled with choosing between The Whisperers and Alexandria.

While she was a favorite of Alpha’s, Beta distrusted her immediately. Gamma was able to see her nephew being raised by Alden of Alexandria before her unfortunate death at the hands of Beta.
We were sad to see her go so soon as Gamma had a lot of potential, especially in the episodes to come when Alpha is finally killed by Negan. Thankfully we’ll be able to see Birch’s acting talents once again in Wednesday!
Arriving to Netflix in November 2022, Wednesday Addams will be attending Nevermore Academy where her parents Gomez and Morticia Addams met. At this academy she’ll meet a plethora of unique and interesting students and staff including Birch’s character Ms. Tamara Novak.
According to an article by What’s on Netflix, Novak’s character is, “the only human teacher of the academy. Smart, quirky, and perceptive, Tamara teaches A.P. Bio and finds herself particularly connected to Willa.” To be clear Willa is another name for Wednesday Addams.
Will Novak meet a horrid fate like Gamma? We’d like to think not, but then again, Wednesday seems to be a series that doesn’t shy away from death.
Even if its purpose is for comedic effect.
