NBC’s Hit TV show, Law & Order: SVU, continues to stay a hit for 23 seasons and running. During that time, the show has managed to change its cast around multiple times in many of its seasons.

Each season had new additions, whether by killing them off or simply giving them a formal goodbye pertaining to their very own storylines. Just recently, we have seen characters like Nick Amaro and Rafael Barba, who have been with the show for years, especially with the newest generation of the show, exit.

But now, a shock comes to fans as news has been reported of yet another vital character making their exit. The show’s character, Amanda Rollins, has been prominent for 12 seasons now but is reportedly taking her leave.

The actress who plays Detective Rollins, Kelli Giddish, has given official confirmation of this news in a statement on her Instagram saying, “I wanted to address the chatter I’ve seen online and let everyone know that this will, indeed, be my last season on Law and Order: SVU. Playing Rollins has been one of the greatest joys and privileges of my life.”

It is sad for fans to hear of this news because of how close and well known the character has become to the show. She became a fan favorite when she was first written many years ago.

It will be absolutely devastating to see yet another character bid farewell. Fans are even more devasted because the pairing of the two characters, Rollins and Carisi, had just gotten romantically involved with each other after years of “will-they or won’t-they” tension.

With this being a fresh storyline for Rollins, fans find found it to be a bit odd for the detective to be leaving. Audiences are speculating that the decision to leave was, in fact, not Kelli Giddish’s choice.

Though official confirmation has not been made on that particular matter, fans can’t help but wonder. Some are even taking it to Twitter to express their thoughts.

Rumor has it that Giddish will be making her final appearance as Detective Rollins in the ninth episode of the season 24. But fret not because our beloved Rollins still has a few more appearances left until she bids her final farewell.

As of now, there has been no word on how Detective Amanda Rollins will be written out of the show. All we can really hope for is a happy ending for her and for some conclusion to her character arc.

I’m sure will please fans sufficiently. Law & Order: SVU will premiere its 24th season on Thursday, September 22, on NBC.
