She-Hulk: Attorney at Law season 1 episode 3 “The People vs. Emil Blonsky” determines Emil’s fate after his prison escape, reveals what kind of cases the Superhuman Law Division covers, and introduces a new possible enemy. Let’s begin!

Jennifer Walters is becoming the center of unwanted attention as her case with Emil Blonsky becomes nationwide news. Add to it, the outpouring of negative comments purely based on her superhero name She-Hulk (who, let us remind you, did not pick the name).

We then get the scene that was actually a clip, Disney Plus and Marvel released early of Jennifer discovering Emil’s escape was due to Sorcerer Supreme of the Mystic Arts, Wong. Nikki helps Jennifer come in contact with him and when he arrives via teleportation, he explains that he is the reason for Emil’s escape.

Wong was looking for a worthy opponent to fight and improve his skills with. Jennifer is understandably upset with Wong, but he agrees to speak at the court hearing as a key witness.

The day of the court hearing arrives, and Wong is late. To buy him time, Jennifer brings forth other witnesses while Emil’s several lovers anxiously await and hope to be with him soon.

While the situation is odd, they are not convinced Emil is rehabilitated. Wong finally arrives and explains the escape, but Emil decides to prove he has control of Abomination.

He transforms before everyone, which causes minor panic but proves his point. Even as Abomination, he does not attack or attempt to escape.

The case works in Jennifer’s favor, Emil is released however he must not turn into Abomination ever again.

From one successful case to another, Jennifer comes to the aid of her previous coworker Dennis. Dennis is vain, self-centered, delusional and well deserving of what takes place.

He had apparently been tricked by Runa the Light Elf, who shapeshifted to appear as the rapper and actress Megan Thee Stallion.

He is suing Runa for the several hundred thousand dollars he had spent on her. Runa of course, ever the trickster not only shapeshifts into Dennis but the judge as well.

His lawyer Drew, is worried that they will not win the case due the fact it should be obvious Dennis was never dating the famous rapper. Jennifer helps win the case by appearing as a witness, claiming that Dennis is so delusional he’d never expect the rapper to be an imposter.

Her testimony helps Drew win the case.

Will all of Jennifer’s successes this episode we weren’t expecting the introduction or hint at a new villain. As Jennifer returns home from work, she is attacked by a group of men wielding what looks to be like Asgardian-powered weapons.

She does jokingly ask if they stole them from an Asgardian construction worker and they embarrassingly reply, yes. Thanks to She-Hulk, Jennifer easily defeats them however one does attempt to pierce her skin with a needle.

The group escapes claiming their boss will not be happy, especially since the needle didn’t work. Who is they’re boss?

Why did they attack her?

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Season 1 Episode 3 review

While this is a minor detail to point out, I wish there was more fourth wall breaks. She-Hulk doesn’t need follow Deadpool’s example however I feel like there aren’t enough.

Whether it be She-Hulk, or Jennifer Walters I think she’s pulls them off well without feeling forced. Now onto the episode itself.

I had a feeling Emil’s escape was some form of misdirection. Wong was an interesting Marvel cameo to use and a great way to introduce Jennifer to the types of situations she may be facing in the Superhuman Law Division.

The addition of Dennis’s case was amusing, showing how our world is changing due to the existence of other creatures, beings and worlds. True, people won’t be seeing the likes of aliens just freely walking the streets.

But it shouldn’t be too surprising either if aliens assimilate into society. Of course, the reason we think Jennifer was attacked was so that the enemy could create more Hulk-beings.

We think, once again, that it is a misdirection to assume the enemy is from Asgard or that realm. We think the enemy had access to those weapons, like perhaps someone who works in the Superhuman Law Division…it’s Holliway, we think it’s Holliway.

But we’ll have to see if this moment is developed further in the season or if it will move over towards a future Marvel film.
