Halloween is coming and there’s a reason that October is becoming the favorite month of horror fiends. When the trees shed their leaves, we start craving two things – pumpkin spice lattes and a lot of horror shows and content to binge.

This October, fans certainly won’t lack for a second, as a litany of excellent horror shows are ready to be consumed. Let’s take a look at five shows that horror fans can’t afford to miss this Halloween season.

1. The Midnight Club – Netflix (October 7)

Mike Flanagan has become a hero to fans over the past few years, regularly releasing hit horror shows. The mind behind The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and Midnight Mass is now bringing yet another horror show to Netflix.

The Midnight Club, based on the novel by Christopher Pike, follows a group of teens fascinated by the macabre. The teens are all diagnosed with terminal illnesses living in hospice care when they decide to promise each other.

When the first one of them dies, they will contact each other from beyond the grave. However, when that day comes, things don’t go too well.

Given his past three shows, expectations are high for Mike Flanagan’s latest project.

2. Devil in Ohio – Netflix (September 2)

Devil in Ohio dropped earlier this month and already has a huge following. Based on the best-selling novel, which was inspired by a true story, the cult horror explores the world of a hospital psychiatrist played by Emily Deschanel, when she shelters an escapee from a mysterious cult.

Naturally, everything breaks down and a strange girl played by Madeleine Arthur, tears apart the normal life she had created. This thrilling tale delves into the demonic mystery in the middle of small-town America making it one of the must-watch horror shows of this year.

3. Interview with the Vampire – AMC+ (October 2)

While Interview with the Vampire has already played out on movie screens in 1994 with Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, and Kirsten Dunst, fans have every reason to be excited about it coming to AMC at the beginning of October.

The Anne Rice novel about two male vampires raising a bloodthirsty child will feature some top names, including Jacob Anderson of Game of Thrones fame, Sam Reid, and upcoming Avatar star Bailey Bass in the three key roles. The 1994 movie avoided the homo-erotic tones of Rice’s book, but the show promises to live up to the source material.

4.  Guillermo Del Torro’s Cabinet of Curiosities – Netflix (October 25)

Guillermo Del Toro has become known as the maestro of the morbid. Now he is bringing forth one of the most sinister horror shows of the year.

Hitting Netflix screens near the end of October, Guillermo Del Torro’s Cabinet of Curiosities will present 8 different horror tales. The anthology will also feature the directors of hit horror films like The Babadook, Spice, and Mandy.

Featuring top names like The Walking Dead’s Andrew Lincoln and Rupert Grint of Harry Potter fame, the show is set to be star-studded.

5. From – Epix (February 22)

An unnerving show that creeps up on the viewers, From was one of the unexpected horror shows that hit the screens earlier this year. A family on a road trip stumbles upon a strange small town in the center of the United States.

Unfortunately, anyone who enters the town cannot leave. To make matters worse, nights are dangerous as creatures emerge from the forest.

Residents have to keep their windows shut and remain indoors to stay safe. What’s stopping people from leaving?

Where are these dangerous creatures coming from? From has been well received with generally positive reviews as fans were stuck to their screens waiting for the answers to their questions.

From is easily one of the most binge-worthy horror shows of the year. Fans craving more will not have to wait too long as a second season has already been commissioned.
