The final episodes of The Walking Dead began airing Sunday, October 2 on AMC. Season 11 Episode 17 “Lockdown” delivered an exciting and dramatic episode with a slight cliffhanger in regard to the villainous Lance Hornsby.

While the fate of The Commonwealth might be in question as both walkers are lurching toward the walls and people are rioting within, this isn’t the case for The Walking Dead Universe. According to a promising tweet from the official The Walking Dead Twitter account, the TWDU is expanding.

After some uplifting narration from Rick Grimes, coinciding with flashbacks of previous episodes and moments from the series, we are treated to several announcements. The Dead City, Daryl Dixon, and Rick & Michonne spinoffs will be arriving to AMC in 2023, alongside a new season of Fear The Walking Dead.

Currently, The Walking Dead: Dead City has been filming in New Jersey while it is rumored that filming for the Daryl Dixon spinoff is about to begin in France. We have yet to figure out what events cause Negan and Maggie to team up, why Daryl is suddenly in another country and where Rick and Michonne have been.

When will The Walking Dead spinoffs air?

We have our theories but for now we’ll wait for verified reasons. Amongst these announcements, the video shares scenes from the final episodes, hinting that the rest of the season will be far from dull.

But does this mean that Daryl Dixon and Rick & Michonne are the official titles for those spinoffs, or will they change as Dead City was previously Isle of the Dead? When and where will filming for Rick & Michonne begin and take place?

Rest assured, as saddened as we are to see the legacy of The Walking Dead conclude, we are equally as ready to see it live on for several more years.
