Cassian tries to learn more about the prison, Mon has money issues, and Bix Caleen is interrogated by the Empire in this week’s episode of Andor season 1.

Catch up here on everything from the last episode!

The episode begins with ISB superintendent Dedra Meero interrogating Bix Caleen on Ferrix. Meero reveals everything she knows, including all about the radio Bix uses to talk to Luthen Rael and that Ferrix is used primarily to steal Imperial equipment.

Bix explains she does not know the buyer (Rael) well, so she is no help to the ISB agent. She knows no matter what she says, Meero is not going to believe her anyway.

Meero agrees with this and leaves Bix in the hands of a “doctor” who is not comforting.

Andor season 1 episode 9: Cassian joins the prison rebellion

Back on Narkina 5, Cassian Andor is jelling beautifully with his tablemates. He suggests a slight change be made to improve efficiency following Ulaf’s hand being in pain.

Kino Loy recognizes this, and compliments Taga after “Keef” gave him the credit. Andor then goes to the bathroom where he continues filing a pipe that already has plenty of scratch marks all over it.

He stops when a new inmate is brought in. While this newbie is brought down, Andor and another inmate pick up their conversation about how they will try to escape when a new prisoner arrives.

The Imperial “doctor” explains how the process will go to Bix, with the ominous tone that this will not be a pleasant experience. The doctor explains that she will be listening to a layered broadcast of a massacre, primarily children.

Before it begins, Meero warns her prisoner to cooperate since multiple listenings tend to do severe damage. When the session is over, Meero gets what she needs and leaves Bix Caleen in the hotel room as a witness who can identify their person of interest in Axis.

As a compromise, the Imperial officer decides to hang Paak, the man who works for and gave up Bix after he was tortured himself. While changing shifts, Cassian and his fellow inmates are waiting around following an incident somewhere in the prison.

Taga is trying to communicate with sign language to find out what happened. After some chaos ensues, Kino calms everyone down before the lights flash and they are free to go.

Andor season 1 episode 9: Mon talks with her cousin

During a senate meeting, Senator Mon Mothma is trying once again to rally her colleagues on making sure the Empire does not overreach, to a mixed reception. After this session, she heads home but is informed her cousin is waiting for her when she arrives.

When Mon returns home, she finds her cousin has brought gifts for her daughter Leida. The audience discovers her cousin is Vel.

They talk about how the Rebellion comes first but Mon is still worried about her kin. Vel refuses to acknowledge Luthen before Leida returns and the talk ends.

That night, Cassian tries to get some answers from Kino Loy about the guard situation. His floor manager keeps a low voice by telling his fellow prisoner that he will not help because he wants to stay out of trouble.

Andor is confused by this since he is positive nobody’s listening, something he yells out of frustration a couple of times. Taking what she learned on Ferrix, Dedra Meero reports back to Major Partagaz.

Even though Axis has no ID yet, Meero learned that his operation is disciplined and organized all over the galaxy, not just Ferrix. With help from her assistant Heert, Meero is told to keep going with her investigation.

Walking to their shift the next day, the inmates learn that all of Unit 2 was fried out and both day and night shifts are dead. Kino learns from his fellow floor manager this happened because there was trouble in the unit.

He takes this hard since it reinforces the fact it could happen to them at any moment.

Andor season 1 episode 9: Syrill Karn tries to be useful

Syril Karn is eating breakfast before work when his mom arrives and makes passive-aggressive comments about her son waking up early and working late. Syril responds to this by expressing he knows she snooped in his stuff when he was not home.

Eedy Karn manipulatively states she gave her son everything, meaning she does not deserve to be treated like this. When Syril explains he was promoted, Eedy’s tone changes to a proud mother who always knew her son had promise.

At their family meal, Mon learns that Perrin has been talking about her and her friend Tay to Leida. This allows Vel to learn Mon’s grade school friend is bankrolling the Rebellion.

Before Vel leaves, Mon asks her to be a spoiled rich girl. But Vel has no time for that since she is fighting the Empire.

It turns out Syril was waking up early and staying late to try and catch Dedra Meero as she was arriving at or leaving work. He pleads and begs for Meero to take him seriously so they can both achieve their same goal.

Since Syril is acting deranged, however, Meero ignores him.

Andor season 1 episode 9: The truth about Narkina 5

Talking with Tay, Mon learns they need a 400,000 credit deposit to keep their accounts from being flagged. Tay offers up the name Davo Sculdun, someone who Mon describes as a thug.

Unfortunately, Tay already talked with him and is set to meet at Mon’s residence. The Imperial Security Bureau supervisors have a meeting since they picked up a Rebel pilot who works for the rebel Anto Kreegyr.

To stop this pilot from returning to Kreegyr and to keep the ISB out of it, Meero has the plan to make the pilot’s death look like an accident. During their shift, Ulaf is working slower and keeps falling.

After their shift, Ulaf collapses and they call for a med tech immediately. An inmate med tech arrives and determines that Ulaf had a massive stroke and is unable to be saved, so he is euthanized.

The med tech explains this is less painful than how Keef or Kino will get out of this place. He explains that nobody is getting out of this prison after the new guidelines.

Mass killings are an easy option for the prisoners. The episode ends with Kino recognizing there is no escape from the prison other than death.

When Cassian asks how many guards are on each floor, Kino Loy explains there is never more than 12.
