The Acolyte plot and story
According to Lucasfilm and Disney, The Acolyte will be as follows:
"The Acolyte is a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated."
For those who do not know, the High Republic era of Star Wars history is before the prequel films and when the Jedi Order was at its highest and strongest. This era goes on for centuries before Count Dooku infiltrated the Jedi and Chancellor Palpatine persuaded a young Anakin Skywalker to the dark side of the force.
The showrunner for The Acolyte is Leslye Headland, who has most famously worked on the Netflix series Russian Doll. Considering the Netflix time loop show is riddled with mystery elements, there is sure to be an easy transition for genres for Headland.
There is no release date yet, but production and filming have begun.
