It has been almost two long years since The Mandalorian completed its second season and 9 months since audiences saw their favorite bounty hunter fighting in Mos Espa. With these appearances in The Book of Boba Fett, Mando Din Djarin received his next task and beautifully set up the next batch of episodes.

With season 3 right around the corner, let us take a look back at what has occurred and try to get a feel of what is to come with The Mandalorian season 3.

5. How will Din Djarin’s appearance in The Book of Boba Fett impact The Mandalorian Season 3?

At the end of The Mandalorian season 2, Din Djarin allowed and encouraged Grogu to go with Luke Skywalker to train to become a Jedi. This noble task, on top of the Mandalorian removing his helmet and showing his face to The Child, led to numerous tears falling down Star Wars fans’ cheeks.

This has not been the last we have seen of the bounty hunter, though. In The Book of Boba Fett season 1, on top of aiding the titular character, the bounty hunter learned more context about the Darksaber that he now yields.

Din Djarin did earn a stronger claim to the saber, but there is still plenty of scrutinies thanks to Bo-Katan being a hyperjump away.

Din Djarin also confronted his heinous actions of removing his helmet. This appearance, in arguably the best episode of The Book of Boba Fett, showed him being tasked with returning to Mandalore so that he may try and redeem himself for this dishonor.

Which leads…

4. Will the Mandalorian receive forgiveness for breaking the holy rule of taking off his helmet and revealing his face?

The major plot point for the start of The Mandalorian season 3 looks to be Din Djarin’s journey to his home planet of Mandalore. Mando has now shown his face twice in the series and both were under very different circumstances.

But that does matter since Mandalorians see it as very cut and dry. Over the summer during Star Wars Celebration, clips were shown revealing the hero stating, “I’m going to Mandalore so that I may be forgiven for my transgressions.”

Other clips were also released, including Bo-Katan seeking what she believes is hers; the Darksaber. Since Bo-Katan is the one who showed Din Djarin how not all Mandalorians keep their helmets on, it is very possible these two stories will continue to be interconnected.

Even though they started with blasters pointed at one another, there is definitely an appreciation and respect between Mando and Bo-Katan. If Din Djarin gets in trouble on Mandalore, the former leader of the planet might lend a hand.

3. Who will be showing up in The Mandalorian Season 3?

The biggest shock appearance in both of the first two seasons was easily Luke Skywalker as the Jedi Knight who rescued the Mandalorian, Grogu, and the rest of the heroes. Not only that but some new faces might show up who have become instant favorites.

These include the likes of Cobb Vanth, Migs Mayfield, Boba Fett, and Fennec Shand having a chance to appear along with Peli Motto, Greef Karga, and The Armorer already confirmed. There are also antagonists confirmed like Dr. Pershing and Moff Gideon.

While these characters are established at this point, some new actors have been announced which means new faces. First, there is everyone’s favorite time-traveling scientist, Christopher Lloyd.

Since Lloyd has a career that expands over 60 years, he will be captivating and entertaining in the galaxy far, far away. Next, there is SNL alum and comedy icon, Tim Meadows.

Since Horatio Sanz has already found success on The Mandalorian, Meadows should achieve the same status.

2. What is next for The Child’s journey into becoming a Jedi?

Not only was Din Djarin given a spotlight in an episode of The Book of Boba Fett, but Grogu did as well. Here, Grogu made the choice himself to choose to follow the path of a Jedi or hold on to his personal connections and end his training.

The Child chose to help the Mandalorian and hitch a ride with R2-D2 with his Beskar chainmail armor. While this was a sweet and romantic moment between a de facto father and son relationship, this did put a pause and possibly a stop to Grogu’s Jedi and Force training.

Grogu is still very Force-sensitive and has already shown how powerful that connection can be, so what will come of this raw power now? Grogu is still an impressionable young being, and with Mando’s violent lifestyle, there is an argument to be made about if Grogu should not see the death and destruction caused by his paternal figure.

1. Will Grogu show his true allegiance to the Light or Dark side?

Many have theorized, including the writer of this article, that Grogu’s actions have varied between using the Light side of the Force and the Dark side. Choking Cara Dune for threatening Mando was an understandable reaction, but it still does not take away from Sith are the main beings who use this technique.

Connecting to the previous question, Mando clearly has made an aggressive impression on The Child for better or worse and has the possibility to shape this little creature without him even knowing it. This could lead to Grogu falling down the path of the Sith which could be an issue for many people around the galaxy.

The close connection between the two has been emphasized and beautifully written countless times, so it will be interesting to see where the two go from here.
