Of all the powerhouse couples in The Walking Dead, Rick and Michonne reign supreme. The two may have started out cautious and suspicious of one another but that grew into a deep-rooted friendship and bond that couldn’t be broken.

It seemed only natural that the two would fall in love. With times being as unpredictable as they are in the world of The Walking Dead, it is truly something to see their relationship remain just as strong even all these years later.

The apocalypse has not been kind to either character, especially when Rick disappears, leading to many believing he died. While Michonne continued to raise Judith and R.J, (her son that Rick doesn’t even know exists) as well as lead the group, she couldn’t help but wonder if Rick was still alive.

Any doubts she had vanished when she met Virgil and discovered items and clues linked to her true love. Since Michonne’s departure, fans have not seen nor heard from her or Rick until the series finale.

When will The Walking Dead Rick and Michonne spinoff begin filming?

Fans were treated to seeing what the two have been up to. Not surprisingly, Michonne is nearly back to her old self, slaying walkers with her katana flawlessly like the queen she is.

Rick on the other hand has seemingly escaped the CRM hoping to find his family. Unfortunately, he is found and supposedly recaptured.

However, Rick’s willpower remains as strong as ever. How will the two reunite?

What have they both seen and experienced since their departures? We’ll leave it to the unnamed Rick and Michonne spinoff to answer those questions.

The spinoff is one of three expected to arrive on AMC next year. The Walking Dead: Dead City has wrapped filming a short time ago while the unnamed Daryl Dixon spinoff seems to be either filming now or will begin shortly in France.

When can we expect the Rick and Michonne spinoff to begin filming? According to the actress herself, Danai Gurira, sooner than we think.

Screen Rant shared her reveal during a SELF interview in October that filming will be begin in January 2023. That is literally a month away.

Sounds good so far but where will filming take place? The mystery turns to rumors as some are suggesting New Jersey.

If this is true, (that’s a heavy ‘if’) New Jersey will have another Walking Dead project to add to their filming location repertoire. Logically, New Jersey would make sense as Rick Grimes is standing, Jersey side, looking out at a practically destroyed Philadelphia skyline before he is presumably recaptured by the CRM.

True you don’t need to be filming specifically where the story takes place. Dead City filmed practically the entire spinoff in New Jersey, with maybe a day or two of shooting in New York.

However, the rumor has many, including myself, hopeful that Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) and Danai Gurira will arrive to New Jersey and film what will surely be a television show for the record books!
