Po and the group must win a game if they are to speak to Queen Zuma, but little do they know, trouble is on the horizon. In Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 2 episode 7, “The Beast”, Colin meets with the Pirate Queen Forouzan while Klaus and Veruca seem to find another Tianshang weapon.

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight Season 2 Episode 7 recap – The Beast is unleashed

In order to speak to Queen Zuma, the group decides to battle a trio of armadillos in a classic ball game inspired by the Mayans. Wandering Blade has proven she’s a natural but decides not to play.

The trio start to lose causing Po to beg Wandering Blade to partake. She admits that as a child she becomes monstruous and competitive, with children calling her The Beast.

If she plays, she is not responsible for what happens. Desperate to win, Po allows this and thus The Beast is awakened.

Wandering Blade starts kicking butt while also acting very unsportsmanlike. She even goes as far as wounding one of the players.

The replacement is another armadillo who is younger, full of hope and loves the game. Po is terrified that Wandering Blade will destroy him.

He also finds out why the armadillos desperately need to win, which involves a food shortage that could lead to starvation. Po believes their opponent’s needs are more important and tries to calm Wandering Blade down.

But she is far too gone. With both teams tied, she finally sees that the game should be enjoyed and played for fun and purposely messes up.

Trouble is Rukmini was unaware that they were supposed to lose and scores the winning point.

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight Season 2 Episode 7 recap – Meeting Pirate Queen Forouzan

Colin and the kimono dragon, named Weimin, arrive to a rather unfriendly bar to seek an audience with Pirate Queen Forouzan. Problem is Colin doesn’t have great people skills and believes nearly everything and everyone are below him because he is a knight.

He tries to get information from one pirate, but he requires payment for such information. Colin, too stubborn to submit, refuses to pay him.

But it seems Forouzan wishes to see them. She probably heard his constant rude comments about pirates.

He asks for her help in finding Mr. Ping which will lead to Po and Wandering Blade’s whereabouts. Forouzan agrees as she is seeking Mr. Ping.

She has Colin and Weimin join her on her ship. However, the two are stuck cleaning the ship during the voyage.

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight Season 2 Episode 7 recap – Danger is coming

The episode ends with Klaus and Veruca on the flying ship, seemingly following a calling to another Tianshang weapon. The trouble is there are only four weapons.

Klaus and Veruca have two, Po’s group has one, meaning the weasel siblings are probably being called to the storm wheels. This is also the weapon Po’s group believes Queen Zuma has.

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight Season 2 Episode 7 review

Things are not starting to look good for Po and the group. They now have Forouzan with Colin and Weimin on their tails.

It seems as though Klaus and Veruca aren’t far behind as they are being called to the storm wheels. While I loved witnessing how Colin and the Pirate Queen will be getting involved in the story, I didn’t care too much for Po’s group being stuck playing a game the whole episode.

Even the buildup at the end was amazing but it would have been nice if Po’s group was doing something else. They assume Queen Zuma is The Protector, but she’s probably not.

So unless she can tell them who The Protector is, that whole part of the episode was pointless. The episode felt divided between feeling like filler and actually being worth the time to watch.

I do believe the lesson the episode was trying to convey was about how games/sports of any kind should be played for fun, while also showing the importance of good sportsmanship. But I’m really hoping things pick up next episode.
