One Bridgerton character will not be returning for season 3

Netflix’s successful period piece and romantic drama Bridgerton, already has fans buzzing over whether or not Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton will finally get together in the next season. Each season pairs one of the distinguished Bridgerton children with, who will luckily be, their one true love.

Season 1 paired Daphne Bridgerton with The Duke of Hastings Simon Basset. Season 2 paired Anthony Bridgerton with Kate Sheffield Sharma.

In both seasons, finding true love during the busiest and most ideal time of the year is far from easy. Especially with the mysterious Lady Whistledown sharing all the juiciest news and gossip, that can either destroy or propel one’s reputation.

Every season has every young woman wanting to be Queen Charlotte’s chosen Diamond of the First Water. Every man wants to court and potentially marry either the Diamond or someone from a prominent family.

Which Bridgerton character might not be returning for the new season?

When it comes to Penelope and Colin, they’ve established themselves as close friends. However, Colin has yet to know of Penelope’s true feelings for him.

While little is known at this point as to what will specifically happen in season 3, we did hear some news that might upset some fans. Phoebe Dynevor (Daphne) shared the sad news with Screen Rant about her character Daphne.

It sounds as though we will not be seeing the likes of her in the new season as Dyneror states, “Sadly not in season 3. Potentially in the future. But season 3, I’m just excited to watch as a viewer.” If we recall, Daphne hardly appeared in season 2, while her husband Simon and child were merely referenced.

Daphne’s part in season 2 was to be moral support for Anthony, who struggled between marrying for love and duty. This was due to the way his father suddenly died and the heartbreak his mother suffered and continues to suffer from.

If we are being honest, Daphne isn’t as close to Colin, therefore it almost makes sense not for her to appear. All the same, we hope she, Simon and their child are at least mentioned.
