Are Bloaters arriving to The Last of Us in season 1 episode 5?

Out of the four stages of the infected, the last and final stage is undoubtedly the worst. This final stage of the infected called Bloaters, might be making their appearance in the next episode of The Last of Us.

The HBO series based on the highly successful video game franchise of the same name; has brought Joel and Ellie into the live-action television world. But, it also has brought to life those unfortunate enough to become infected by the fungus that brings about the apocalypse.

We previously discussed the four stages of the infected. Naturally, as each stage progresses, the infection gets worse and worse.

By the fourth and final stage, any part that was once human is completely gone and replaced by a monstrous form. These Bloaters are disgusting and nearly unstoppable, which doesn’t bode well for our heroes or any survivors for that matter.

Will Joel and Ellie face a Bloater in the next episode of The Last of Us?

For those curious how these infected forms will look in the show, they may find out sooner than expected. In anticipation for season 1 episode 5, which will be airing early on Friday, the official The Last of Us Twitter account shared an image of a supposed Bloater with the words, “It’s coming.”

Not ominous or bone chilling at all right? Does this mean Bloaters will be making their first appearance on the show?

Or is this simply a warning of what’s to come in the very near future? As it is, Joel and Ellie may be in hot water upon getting discovered by Sam and Henry.
