In the season 2 finale of Oddballs, Toasty, or should we say Declan, is out for revenge against his father James. Can James prevent his son from killing him and destroying the world?

Oddballs Season 2 Episode 8 recap – Toasty is no more

The season 2 finale wastes no time, as Toasty arrives in his robot suit! He’s talking, wearing braces, covered in zits, and prefers to be called Declan.

His anger is mostly directed at James, whom he calls his father, which upsets Max. After escaping Toasty, James admits Echo was right and tries to figure out what to do.

His first idea is to give Toasty love. At first his plan works.

The two of them bond to make up for lost time, all the while Max looks on deeply annoyed that he’s not considered a father to Toasty. Things change once James asks for the perfect toast.

Toasty freaks out and goes back to his evil ways!

Oddballs Season 2 Episode 8 recap – The final battle

With no other option than to destroy Toasty, James finds his toaster manual which shows an image of something round as the weakness. He and Max rummage through town trying to find round objects as the final battle begins.

James, Max and Echo battle Toasty and his evil appliances. The group manages to get the upper hand, sending Toasty to the bread factory.

There, James figures out that the rounded object needed to defeat his son is a bagel. Before he can use it, Toasty agrees to be good and make the perfect toast.

This is a trick and as he’s about to kill James, James shoves the perfect toast into Toasty’s mouth. Toasty loves it and suddenly wants to provide the perfect toast to the entire world.

Oddballs Season 2 Episode 8 recap – Happy ending?

You’d think that Toasty will once again be the sweet and adorable child of James and Max, but Max swoops in with the bagel and destroys Toasty. Instead of learning their lesson, James and Max decide to take the computer chip from the destroyed toaster and add it to a waffle maker.

The episode ends with a portal opening from seemingly Echo’s future, with someone trying to warn about another end of the world scenario James will cause. Echo refuses to listen, claiming she hates spoilers.

Oddballs Season 2 Episode 8 review

Goodbye Toasty… You were truly loved for more than your ability to make the perfect toast.

The Toasty saga is over but what comes next? If Oddballs gets renewed for season 3, what will be the main plot?

Is there any future in existence where James is not the cause of an apocalypse? Back to the topic at hand, the season 2 finale delivered!

It had all the components of a season finale from action to drama and resolution, with no real cliffhanger to be had (outside of the spoilers Echo didn’t want to know). James and Max can go back to their odd lives, same as before.

With that said, as a whole, I think both seasons 1 and 2 are equally good. There will always be an episode or two I won’t like, but plenty of content that I found enjoyable.

Not to mention the show as a whole, makes perfect use of their short episode running time. Did eight episodes feel a little short this season?

Yes. But maybe season 3 will provide more content for those fans of TheOdd1sOut and Oddballs itself.

If a season 3 is on the horizon, you know I’ll be watching!

Wednesday’s Jenna Ortega will be hosting SNL next month. dark. Next
