Fans of Scott Pilgrim will be pleased to know that an anime series will be arriving to Netflix! In a very eye-catching and straightforward announcement, the streaming platform revealed that a majority of the cast would be returning to voice the characters they played in the 2010 film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

The extremely popular live-action film is an adaptation of the graphic novel series Scott Pilgrim, created by the talented Bryan Lee O’Malley. The story followed Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) as he juggles performing with his band Sex Bob-omb and his current girlfriend Knives Chau (Ellen Wong), while falling in love with another girl, Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead).

Trouble is in order for him to date Ramona, he has to deal with her exes which include actor Lucas Lee (Chris Evans), old middle school romance Matthew Patel (Satya Bhabha) and the powerful record label owner Gideon (Jason Schwartzman). In between that, Scott has to battle his own lack of self-confidence thanks to his ex, the famous singer Envy Adams (Brie Larson), who broke his heart.

The film combined witty humor with over the top but effective special effects, creating a film unlike any seen at the time. It resonated well with fans of the graphic novel, as well as movie goers in the age range and demographic of Scott and the rest of the cast.

What can fans expect from the Scott Pilgrim anime series?

Will the new anime series become a retelling of Scott Pilgrim’s journey to win Ramona’s heart? Will it tell a completely new story?

An official release date remains unknown. Without an official trailer for the series, there is little fans can deduce at the current moment.

But we look forward to finding out and sharing more details as they arise!
