Star Wars: How do Mandalorian romantic relationships work?

This is a Star Wars question that’s been on my mind for quite some time. Considering strict Mandalorian code does not allow Mandalorians to remove their helmet under any circumstances, one has to wonder, if that pertains to romantic interests.

For quite a while, any talk of relationships in Star Wars as a whole, has been solely focused on the Jedi code. This is due to the most popular and unfortunately tragic love story, between Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala.

Anakin’s love for Padme was so strong, he was willing to marry her in secret. But like most secrets, it doesn’t stay hidden for long.

Their love is ultimately what causes Anakin to turn to the Dark Side, bringing about the near extinction of the Jedi as well as ushering in the rise of The Empire. But now Mandalorians are making a quick rise to popularity, thanks to the already established Boba Fett and more recently Disney Plus’ The Mandalorian.

Star Wars: Do Mandalorians get married?

While the main character Din Djarin has more important things to tend to, it hasn’t stopped fans from theorizing about his romantic life. But I’m not here to theorize who might steal Mando’s heart one day, I want to understand how romantic relationships work for Mandalorians, period.

As I am no Star Wars expert, I searched online but didn’t find much. Perhaps this hasn’t been a subject of further discussion or development in Star Wars yet, but the website Wealth of Geeks seems to provide information about Mandalorian weddings.

As expected, most information about Mandalorian relationships has been found in books. Mandalorians do marry and can marry anyone they want.

Although I was surprised to discover that, “weddings typically happen immediately after a Mandalorian turns sixteen years old”. Same-sex marriage is allowed, and the weddings tend to be simple.

While I did learn a lot about Mandalorian weddings, I didn’t when it comes to courtship. Perhaps there isn’t enough time for courting?

Perhaps some marriages are arranged? However, it goes without saying that like with everything else, Mandalorians take marriage and relationships very seriously.
