Will the Disney Plus Star Wars show Obi-Wan Kenobi return for season 2? That is often the question, considering the season 1 finale ended with one big conclusion, while leaving the possibility open for a new story to be told.

Ben Kenobi successfully rescued and returned little Princess Leia back home, finally able to rid himself of his guilt regarding Anakin Skywalker turning to the Dark Side. He finally meets young Luke Skywalker, but Kenobi’s story isn’t quite over yet.

But was Obi-Wan Kenobi successful and popular enough to even warrant a season 2? Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy might have the answer to that.

Has Obi-Wan Kenobi been greenlit for season 2?

She spoke to Variety during Star Wars Celebration, which took place in London, about several Star Wars projects. When she was asked about a second season for Obi-Wan Kenobi she said, “That is not an active development,”.

But that wasn’t all she had to say.

"“But I never say never, because there’s always the possibility. That show was so well-received and [director] Deborah Chow did such a spectacular job. Ewan McGregor really wants to do another. Everybody’s all hands on deck with what we’re doing right now, as you can see by what we showed everybody [at the Celebration]. We’ll turn our attention to that again maybe down the road.” -Kathleen Kennedy"

So, we think it’s safe to say that Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 is a maybe at this point. It’s understandable as to why the show would be on the backburner, when The Mandalorian continues to be a cultural phenomenon, the highly awaited and anticipated Ahsoka is months away from premiering, and three new Star Wars movies are in development.

But we’re curious, do you think Obi-Wan Kenobi should have a second season? If so, what do you want to see happen?
