The seventh episode of the season begins with Elia Kane moving through the shadows of Coruscant, until she finds an Imperial probe droid and she speaks a passcode. She is connected through Moff Gideon and explains how Bo-Katan and Din united their factions.

Gideon is stunned by this union but promises to handle the Mandalorian threat. He then returns to his meeting with his fellow Imperial captains and warlords.

They are discussing how they have believers on every planet in the galaxy and that people are upset with the New Republic. One captain of the old Empire, Captain Pellaeon, talks very confidently about how easy it will be to rebuild the Empire with the help of Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Gideon is unimpressed by this since he believes Thrawn is not returning, so it is time for new leadership for their shadow council. Commandant Hux asks Moff Gideon about Project Necromancer and Dr. Pershing, to which Gideon replies that Pershing was captured by the New Republic and his research is lost.

But he also states he does not care since cloning is Hux and Pellaeon’s fascination, not his. Moff Gideon goes on to explain how they should be sharing their resources more and not keeping them only for just a select group of Imperial captains.

This convinces the rest of the council and rallies the majority of them behind him with his love for the Empire.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 7:  Grogu gets an upgrade

On Nevarro, Greef Karga and his citizens are greeted by a squadron of friendly yet intimidating Mandalorians, using their stolen Imperial cruisers. Also, very much interested in the return of B-Katan Kryze and Din Djarin is The Armorer and the covert of Mandalorians.

Kryze and Djarin land the squadron down by the covert for the first meeting of these two very different groups of Mandalorians, leading to a tense setting. This intensity increases as privateer Mandalorians remove their helmets, but The Armoer keeps the peace.

Greef Karga arrives to greet his old friend in Mando, who has a nice bottle of Coruscant spirits paired with another surprise. This turns out to be IG-11 but stripped down so it is just a mech suit for Grogu, rather than a droid protector.

This is now called IG-12. That night, as the two Mandalorian tribes are having dinner, still separated, Bo-Katan stands up to speak to everyone.

She explains how Mandalore is not cursed but the atmosphere is too tainted to scan from space. Kryze proposes they take their squadron to Mandalore and send a small search party to scout out the Great Forge and reestablish a central hub.

The first to agree to go is Din Djarin, before Koska Reeves, and then the entirety of both camps is agreeing to this plan to save their home.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 7: Bo-Katan gives her side of the Purge

After the scouting party finds a safe place to land on Mandalore, Bo-Katan leads them to survey the land and look out for hostile settlers. As they are traveling, they notice a ship approaching but wait to attack.

The others on the ship begin asking for food, when they recognize Bo-Katan’s voice and make their way to Kryze. It turns out they have been hiding since the Purge and pledge their loyalty once again to Bo-Katan.

On their ship, the surviving Mandalorians are having dinner and talking about the Purge, when Bo-Katan drops something shocking. She surrendered to the ISB and Moff Gideon to try and protect her planet.

Gideon ultimately betrayed her and that is how he retrieved the Darksaber. Everyone is stunned by this news, especially the ones who have been living on this desolate planet believing Bo-Katan fought to the end.

There’s nothing Kryze can do to fix her past, but she intends to unite all Mandalorians and to do her best to fix it. Privately, Din Djarin talks with Bo-Katan about her decision and how she was not selfish.

Kryze puts a lot of blame on herself for the Purge, but Din explains the Mandalorians are survivors and will always rebuild. However, Kryze is worried they are too fragile with their connection.

Regardless of her self-doubt, Din Djarin fully believes in Lady Bo-Katan Kryze.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 7: The Mandalorians try to get along

As The Armorer brings the wounded and ill back to their gauntlet for a thorough treatment, the surviving Mandalorians lead Bo-Katan’s scout party to the Great Forge. On this journey to pass the time, Axe Woves and Paz Viszla are playing a board game where they argue about the rules.

This leads to a fight between the two, with Bo-Katan stating either side can’t step in. However, Grogu steps in with his IG-12 droid suit to instantly make peace between the two warriors.

While they are almost there, the surviving scout Mandalorians notices a disturbance up ahead. It is a monstrous beast that takes out the ship in one swooping strike. Most of the Mandalorians can escape, with Paz Vizsla and Axe Woves flying Grogu and IG-12 to safety.

The captain of the surviving Mandalorians, once they regroup, tells the party they are close to the location of the Great Forge. Traveling through the caves, the Mandalorian group finally comes across the Forge; a shadow of what it once was.

As they are all admiring this historical land, the same Moff Gideon Dark Troopers attack wearing beskar armor. Once the Mandalorians get the upper hand, the troopers retreat but this is not because they are overwhelmed by the Mandalorians.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 7: Moff Gideon makes his plan known

The Dark Troopers lead the Mandalorians to their Imperial base on Mandalore and separate Din Djarin from the rest of his party. When isolated, the squad of troopers can incapacitate Djarin only for Moff Gideon to arrive with a beskar suit of his own.

Gideon explains that his Dark Troopers and their beskar alloy suits, (alluding to what we all know and that the Mandalorians did not help Gideon escape trial in episode 5) will help him rebuild Mandalore in his image. With Din Djarin tied up, and his Mandalorian squad trapped between blast doors, Moff Gideon unleashes his bombers and interceptors.

As they send Din Djarin to the debriefing room, Bo-Katan speaks up to her enemy Gideon. Gideon wants the Darksaber but Bo-Katan is not ready to give it up.

She uses it to help her fellow Mandalorians escape the dark troopers. As most of them escape, Gideon opens the blast doors and tries to take out his foes.

Paz Viszla, however, closes them once he is the only one left, to give his people the best chance to survive. Viszla takes care of the Dark Troopers, but ultimately falls to the three Praetorian guards, completing his honorable sacrifice.
