Another day closer to the release of The Walking Dead: Dead City means another day waiting for the official trailer to be released and another day to theorize about what’s going to happen. We already know the bare minimum facts, such as Hershel Jr. getting kidnapped, Negan and Maggie joining forces, what a post-apocalyptic New York City essentially looks like, and so forth.

Recently, a new rumor has been making the rounds that specific characters from Negan’s past will be returning. This includes a series villain and Negan’s previous right-hand man, Simon.

The Twitter account TWDU Filming Updates, whose tweets are protected, shared a tweet that Steven Ogg, who played the unruly and violent Savior Simon on The Walking Dead, will be returning in a flashback sequence. It seems the series villain, or at least one of, The Croat, was a Savior and received bodily harm thanks to Negan and his trusty barb wired bat Lucille.

Some Twitter accounts shared the tweet, expressing their feelings on the matter. For those who recall, Simon, as much as he was Negan’s trusted right-hand man, wasn’t as trustworthy as the leader had hoped.

What could all these flashbacks mean for The Walking Dead: Dead City?

He was the reason all the men were killed in Oceanside, and he murdered all of Jadis’ people from the junkyard. Both actions were directly against Negan’s orders.

When Negan caught wind that Simon was trying to take control for himself, just as things were heating up against Rick, the two had the worst falling out imaginable. Much like Rick and Shane, Negan had no choice but to kill Simon.

If the rumors are true and flashbacks of The Sanctuary are coming, will fans finally get a glimpse into the community’s past? Will we see what it was like before Negan lead the community?

Will we see how Negan took control? Was The Croat actually the previous leader of The Sanctuary?

Of all the rumors we’ve been seeing and hearing about Dead City thus far, this one truly has us on the edge of our seats both shocked and excited to learn more.
