Watch a new trailer for The Bear season 2
Fans of the high-stress restaurateur dramedy, say “Yes, chef!” A new trailer for the FX series The Bear has dropped, and we couldn’t be more excited to return to the family-owned sandwich shop and see all the ugliness and splendor of its kitchen.
Helmed by creator Christopher Storer and co-showrunner Joanna Calo, season one of the show in 2022 quickly gained acclaim for its fast-paced, no-holds-barred portrayal of what it takes to run a popular Chicago restaurant.
It became a hit with critics and audiences, its popularity rising to a peak when prestigious awards followed. Jeremy Allen White was feted by several award-giving bodies, including the Critics’ Choice Awards for his lead role as the genius yet mentally unstable Chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto.

Season one tackled the return of Carmy to his family-owned sandwich shop, The Beef, in Chicago. He was working in several elite fine dining restaurants in New York, but the death of his brother Michael brought him back to pick up the pieces of the business while dealing with his own grief.
With a ballooning debt left by his late brother and inherited employees that are more like a militia than a professional kitchen staff, it hasn’t been smooth sailing at all. It’s taken a heavy toll on Carmy’s mental health, something reflected in his dynamics with the restaurant employees.
Over all season one was definitely something straight out of Bourdain’s lurid true tales in Kitchen Confidential. At times the depiction of the atmosphere of a high-stress kitchen was so accurate, it triggered viewers who’d been in similar professional kitchens.
What can we expect from The Bear season 2?
Watching the new trailer for season two, it’s clear that Carmy is still continuing to confront his professional and personal demons, but this time he is also dead set on his plans to build his own restaurant, The Bear.
Will The Bear end up a financial mess as The Beef did, or will Chef Carmy and his crew of misfit cooks be the new darlings of Chicago’s popular cuisine?
In an interview with Variety, co-showrunner Joanna Calo declared that “Season 2 really is about the opportunity to start fresh and what does that mean. What does Carmen and Sydney’s dream restaurant look like? But also at the same time, what is a dream restaurant in 2023 look like? I think that’s the thing they’re sort of battling with.”
Season two of The Bear is set for release on June 22 and has been targeted at 10 episodes.
