This week we take a break from the Show Snob’s Weekly 10 usual format to present our awards for 2023. The Emmys released their nominations and, as usual, they didn’t show much imagination as their timetable forces them to look at the last seasons for shows like Succession and The Bear, which isn’t relevant in July 2023.

Just so you have something to watch this week, here is Show Snob’s Weekly 10:

  1. Full Circle (MAX)
  2. Platonic (Apple TV+)
  3. Righteous Gemstones (MAX)
  4. Crowded Room (Apple TV+)
  5. Swagger (Apple TV+)
  6. The Witcher (Netflix)
  7. Foundation (Apple TV+)
  8. Jack Ryan (Amazon Prime Video)
  9. Deleted (Netflix)
  10. The Horrors of Dolores Roach (Amazon Prime Video)

New shows that you should watch: Lazarus Project (TBS) and Miracle Workers (TBS).

For our awards, we’ll give you our two cents on who should win the Emmy and then provide you with Show Snob’s Weekly 10 award winner. To make things simple, we’ll award shows that aired just in 2023.

Best Drama Series

For the Emmys: The Last of Us beats out Yellowjackets and The White Lotus.

Show Snob’s Weekly 10 Award: The Bear. If you put The Bear in the comedy category, you haven’t watched the show, though it is very funny.

Best Comedy Series

For the Emmys: Barry’s final season beats The Bear’s first season. We do love the nomination of Jury Duty, what a fantastic show that was.

Show Snob’s Weekly 10 Award: Shrinking. I wish we could invent a category for Somebody Somewhere. Honorable mention to That ’90s Show.

Best Limited Series

For the Emmys: Fleishman Is in Trouble.

Show Snob’s Weekly 10 Award: Fleishman was in 2022, so we’ll go with The Swarm just edging out Mrs. Davis. Let’s also not forget the genius of Welcome to Chippendales.
