Kids of the ’90s can recall two television shows that probably still haunt them to this day: Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Goosebumps. Truthfully, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, which aired on Nickelodeon terrified me far more than Goosebumps ever did.

But that doesn’t mean Goosebumps didn’t have some eerie, bizarre, and downright horrifying tales as well. Before Goosebumps was a household name in the realm of television, they were a series of best-selling kid’s books written by R.L. Stine.

Each paperback book had a very colorful cover, with simple yet effective artwork, and told stories about everyday kids and the unknown nightmares they were about to encounter. But now that the ’90s are over and the world of special effects have drastically improved (depending on who you ask), there is no doubt the newest version of Goosebumps will be just as memorable.

Yesterday, the official trailer for the show was released by Disney Plus, including a promo trailer. However, if you were to watch the trailer today, you’d be disappointed.

The Goosebumps official trailer

The trailer is gone. Why?

We aren’t really sure. Maybe it was released accidentally, as the show does not air on the streaming platform until, cleverly enough, Friday October 13.

While this probably means we’ll have to wait a big longer to watch the official trailer again, you can still watch the promo, here.

The promo doesn’t reveal much outside of a group of teens seemingly staring at someone or something, as the viewers are warned not to blink. We don’t know about you but count us out of whatever game these teens are playing, willingly or unwillingly.

What stories do you think we’ll see unfold on the television screen? Will we see the return of familiar foes from the books like Slappy the Dummy, The Haunted Mask, the monsters from HorrorLand or perhaps someone more obscure like The Masked Mutant?

Mark your calendars and be prepared for some scares this Halloween season!
