Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 3, episode 3 recap “A Family Friend”
The knights have arrived! In Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 3 episode 3, Po and his friends try to evade capture by the Knights of England, but things don’t go as planned.
What becomes of our heroes? Let’s find out!
Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 3, episode 3 recap – The Knights of England
The episode picks up with the pirates fleeing in a panic as ships arrive, carrying the Knights of England. These knights appear to all be lions, who are very fierce and skilled fighters.
Pirate Queen Forouzan believes Mr. Ping to have betrayed her again, which he did not, and so she flees on her ship. Wandering Blade and Colin believed they had done the right thing, not knowing their troubles with pirates were resolved upon Po and Mr. Ping’s victory.
Now the group needs to evade capture and retrieve the Tianshang weapons that they stored in a trunk. Trouble is pirate Queen Forouzan stole the trunk upon their initial capture.
Luckily for them, Mr. Ping knows where she hides her treasures and leads the group to it, not knowing that Colin is leading the knights to their location. Colin doesn’t believe Wandering Blade will go willing back to England but his decision costs the group and himself.
They are caught by the knights, and their leader Sir Drake. We learn quickly that he isn’t going to make the process easy, even treating Colin with little to no respect.
At least Colin tells Sir Drake about his bargain with Wandering Blade. The group and the trunk are moved to the docks, leaving Weimin behind with the rest of Forouzan’s treasure.
Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 3, episode 3 recap – Capture
Upon reaching the dock, everything goes wrong all at once when Sir Drake asks for the trunk to be opened, as they need to catalog everything going to England. The group hesitates from opening it, forcing him to do so and finds the Tianshang weapons.
The group tries to explain the situation, but he will hear none of it. Cutting their losses, the group decides to take the trunk back and fight the knights.
Sir Drake calls forth for reinforcements and the group is trapped on the dock with no way to escape. That is, until pirate Queen Forouzan returns on her large ship, much to their surprise.
But their problems are still not solved.
Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 3, episode 3 recap – Po’s decision
As the group is preparing to fight off the impending knights, waiting for Forouzan’s ship, Po realizes they won’t be able to escape in time. He makes the wise decision to send the Tianshang weapons with his father onto Forouzan’s boat.
The rest of the group will buy him time fighting off the knights. Mr. Ping sadly agrees and together he and the trunk make it safely onto Forouzan’s boat, whereas the rest of the group is arrested.
Po, however, sees this as the best option because they have to go to England anyway. At least the knights do not have access to the Tianshang weapons.
Wandering Blade feels less confident knowing their chances of successfully escaping will be slim.
Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 3, episode 3 review
What I am really loving about this season most of all, is how the episodes feel perfectly timed without distracting side plots. Each episode seems to have one very simple objective that is fleshed out and timed in such a way that, by the time the episode is over, I was left looking forward to the next.
The pirate subplot, if you want to call it that, is really creative and fits with the time period well. Although we knew Forouzan was going to return and fall right back into her romantic place with Mr. Ping, we didn’t know what to expect of the knights.
Unfortunately they seem to be the good guys, who are actually bad guys, because their morals and values got twisted over time, due to the level of power they hold over others. But this may mean that Colin will side with Po and his friends.
At this point, they could use as many new additions as possible. I’m thinking Colin will notice Po and his friends are in the right and join them.
Now that we’ve had three episodes focused on Po and the pirates, I’m ready to see what Klaus and Veruca have been up to.
