Now that the group needs Wandering Blade’s sword returned, Po worries if bringing back Alfie is the right choice. As he grapples with this dilemma, Mr. Ping and pirate Queen Forouzan arrive with the Tianshang weapons in Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 1 episode 9.

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 3, episode 9 recap – Po’s troubles

As the group returns to the real world, they devise a plan. Wandering Blade and her mother will prepare for Sir Drake at the house and retrieve the sword.

Po, Akna, and Rukmini will meet Mr. Ping and Forouzan to retrieve the Tianshang weapons. Unfortunately for Akna and Rukmini, Po can’t read the map Wandering Blade gave them to find the dock.

Add to it immense fog and the fact that the pirate ship Mr. Ping and Forouzan are using is flying. As they wander about London, they discover their faces on Wanted posters.

The townsfolk try to capture them for the hefty reward when Mr. Ping and Forouzan are able to find and rescue Po and his friends. Although Po is upset to see Forouzan with the Tianshang helmet weapon, he is reassured that she can be trusted.

Po’s concerns don’t falter when he continually gets a bad feeling in his gut. He’s worried that bringing Alfie back is a bad idea, but he doesn’t know how to approach the subject with Blade.

What’s worse is that although the next part of the plan is to simply meet at the catacomb tunnel entrance, Po gets an even worse feeling that Wandering Blade is in trouble.

Meanwhile, Wandering Blade and her mother return home and begin to set up booby traps. As they do so, Blade’s mother has trouble between wanting to do the right thing, while also wanting to see her son again.

She makes a few attempts to talk to Blade, but her daughter is too focused on the task at hand. They do share a brief moment of closure before Sir Drake arrives.

As planned, he and his men fall for each of the booby traps, allowing Wandering Blade to reclaim the sword. As the mother daughter duo make their way to the rooftop, they find themselves trapped when Sir Drake emerges.

Luckily for them, Po and his friends arrive in the flying pirate ship and rescue both Blade and her mother.

Now safely aboard the pirate ship, with both the sword and the Tianshang weapons, Po attempts to voice his concerns to Wandering Blade. Luckily for him, Blade feels the same way.

However, she doesn’t know how to tell her mother, whom is obviously over the moon with the chance of seeing her son again. As agreed, Forouzan had brought Mr. Ping and the weapons to England and wants to retire.

Noticing that his father and Forouzan are deeply in love, Po makes the decision to allow his father to leave with her. Mr. Ping refuses at first, as after all, he’s been a noodle shop owner and father to Po for many years.

In a very heartfelt moment, Po knows that it’s his turn to be there for his dad, as he had always been there for him. Mr. Ping ultimately decides to retire as well and joins Forouzan.

Now that they have everything they need, the group takes the last lifeboat from Forouzan’s pirate ship and returns to England.

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 3, episode 9 review

This episode felt very much like a cliffhanger season finale or a midseason finale of sorts. However, when I searched to see how many episodes are left of season 3, I was shocked to see there are 19 episodes altogether!

Season 1 and 2 had a total of 11 episodes. I don’t count Epic Lunar New Year in that equation as it was more like a special rather than an episode.

I’m curious why season 3 has so many episodes, unless the series is going to wrap up by the season finale. If it doesn’t and we move toward a season 4, I am intrigued as to how this season will wrap up.

All that aside, I liked this episode a lot. It had a lot of action, heart, and the right amount of organized chaos to make it feel big and grand.

It’s the perfect build up for the last part of the mission to destroy the Tianshang weapons. But since there are several episodes left, I’m becoming weary as to what goes wrong and why.

Obviously Veruca will have to arrive at some point to try and stop them. Sir Drake too, naturally.

But what other elements will the show toss in? What of the likes of Colin and Klaus?
