One of the most repetitive questions asked within the last year is, “Where is Carol?” The answer has arrived in the form of: The Book of Carol.

Fans have been waiting anxiously for the return of the Queen of the Apocalypse, ever since Melissa McBride’s sad departure from the series, that was meant to be the Carol and Daryl show. Due to France being untenable for her, it is obviously longer the case for season 2 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, which now even has a bit of a change to the title.

At this year’s New York Comic Con, it was revealed that McBride will be making her return to the series. TWD: Daryl Dixon season 2 will have a bit of a change to the name, as Carol makes her highly anticipated return to The Walking Dead universe once more.

It will now be titled, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon-The Book of Carol. I know it is quite the mouthful, but it is great to see both Carol and Daryl back in the title.

Season 2 is set to premiere sometime in 2024. In the meantime, fans must still await the return of another huge name, the one and only, Rick Grimes.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live will be premiering February 2024. That news was confirmed at the convention, along with a brand-new teaser for the epic love story.

Along with McBride’s return to action, she will also be executive producing alongside Norman Reedus. We know that Melissa McBride has already dabbled in behind-the-scenes work before with her role on The Walking Dead.

It will be beyond exciting to see all of her input come out on screen. Between her and Reedus helping call the shots, expect a lot of magic to happen next season.

Melissa McBride spoke about her ever-evolving story of her character in a statement released by AMC.

"“Ive known there was much more to be told of Carol’s story as I felt her so unsettled when we last saw her, as she watched her best friend, Daryl, ride away. Apart or (hopefully!) together, their stories run deep, and I’m so excited to continue Carol’s journey here. This team of storytellers have done amazing work to land these two established characters in an entirely new world to them, and I’m loving the discoveries!” -Melissa McBride“Ive known there was much more to be told of Carol’s story as I felt her so unsettled when we last saw her, as she watched her best friend, Daryl, ride away. We are so excited too! This past season we got to see Daryl embark on his journey to France.

It was a crazy whirlwind adventure to see this redneck from Georgia, thrown into the woods and say, “Good luck!” Now we will get the opportunity to see just how Carol makes it across the Atlantic.

Though, for some reason, I think a lot more fire will be involved in Carol’s trek to France. In addition, Melissa McBride will also be a series regular as revealed at the NYCC TWD: Daryl Dixon panel.

The star said previously that Carol was a very big part of Daryl’s story, and he was not wrong. Carol has had a subtle presence in all of season 1.

The sky is the limit to what the force of nature can bring to the table. We are ready for it, but the question remains: is France ready for Carol?

Why the name The Book of Carol?

Because this is a show primarily centered around nuns and religion, it makes a lot of sense why they would go with this name. If you’ve ever read the Bible you’ll find the book of John, the book of Ruth, and the list goes on and on.

I believe season 2 will be telling the full story of Carol’s life from the time Daryl left, to her own French adventure to find her soulmate and bring him home. Joining McBride and Reedus in season 2 will be Clémence Poésy, Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, Laika Blanc Francard, Anne Charrier, Romain Levi, and Eriq Ebouaney.

Also executive producing with the stars of the show is Angela Kang, showrunner David Zabel, Scott M. Gimple, Brian Bockrath, Daniel Percival, Jason Richman, and Greg Nicotero. The season finale of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon airs this Sunday at 9PM ET on AMC and AMC Plus.

If you are excited for the return of Carol (we all are!) do not miss the finale! It was revealed at the convention that fans will get to see the return of the alluring Carol on the season finale of a show that has taken TWDU by storm.

The best is yet to come.
