Fear the Walking Dead Preview: Non-spoiler thoughts for “Sanctuary”
By Shay McBryde
This week on Fear the Walking Dead is going to be a treat for all Dwight fans. “Sanctuary” connects the worlds of The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead in a heartbreakingly nostalgic way.
The audience will be reminded once again that hard decisions come at a cost and will relive the moments that have once again brought Dwight back to his darkest moment in time. The episode opens up with Dwight’s point of view and you will witness the pain of his loss.
The loss of his wife and son has brought him to this full circle moment of returning home and wanting to shut himself out from the world again. All his efforts of trying to make things right have led to this moment of perpetual solitude and defeat.
It may take a miracle to draw Dwight back in and they find it in the most unlikeliest form. Dove, June, and Sherry set out to find Dwight.
They need his help to rebuild PADRE with Madison’s departure and Strand, of all people, leading now. But you will soon come to find out that Dwight isn’t the only one battling the demons of his past.
They must all come face to face with their burdens in order to persevere and make PADRE into something good out of all the bad. The episode was written by Justin Boyd and David Johnson, as well as directed by Phil McLaughlin.
“The survivors recook with ghosts of their past.”
