For some time, fans theorized about which Marvel role Steven Yeun would have for the Marvel film Thunderbolts. Will he be Mister Negative or perhaps Amadeus Cho?

Well, it seems the cat might be out of the bag for this star of AMC’s The Walking Dead and Netflix’s Beef. No this wasn’t an online slip from Yeun or a Reddit post, but a reveal from Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead himself (oh, the irony).

Kirman revealed that Yeun will be playing Sentry while speaking with comic artist David Finch. “My good friend Steven Yeun is playing the Sentry in a movie,” Kirkman unveiled.

Who will Steven Yeun be playing in the Marvel film Thunderbolts?

He also added, “Yeah he called me, he went in for a costume fitting. I hope I’m not…I don’t think this is a spoiler or anything that will get anybody in trouble. I don’t know, maybe. We’ll see. I don’t care. I don’t work for Marvel. What are they going to do to me?” And just like that the mystery is solved!

Steven Yeun will be playing Sentry, who has a very long and extensive history that you can read on the Marvel website here. For those who are already familiar with Sentry, we’re curious how you feel about this casting.

Do you think we’ll be seeing a pretty accurate portrayal of both Sentry’s heroic and villainous sides? He is a pretty big threat to many.

It would be interesting to see Yeun play into a darker side of the superhero world, considering he already voices the superhero Invincible, of the animated TV show of the same name. Thunderbolts is currently due to arrive to theaters on July 25, 2025.
