Let’s be honest, Moon Knight season 1 had a fantastic season finale. Marc and Steven are going to coexist in the same body, Arthur Harrow and Ammit are defeated, and Khonshu’s contract is no longer valid. However, if we are also being honest, the season 1 finale left a lot open-ended including Marc and Steven’s relationship with Layla (who is, keep in mind, Marc’s wife), Marc’s relationship with his father, how Marc and Steven will survive with the third identity Jake and if Jake actually killed Arthur.

Moon Knight, like Loki, was a major success for Disney Plus, receiving an 86% on the Rotten Tomatoes Average Tomatometer and an Average Audience Score of 89%. At the time, Moon Knight broke the Marvel mold, becoming a show that did not directly connect to the larger MCU.

There were no mentions of any Marvel characters, not even the infamous Thanos snap, let alone revealing what year it was. This gave Moon Knight the upper hand, coming off more like an individual story about a man suffering from dissociative identity disorder, while also saving the world from ancient Egyptian forces.

For some time there have been countless rumors that a season 2 could be in development, ranging from Oscar Isaac (Marc/Steven/Jake/Moon Knight) and director Mohamed Diab hanging out in Cairo, Egypt to the more recent rumor from Twitter account @DanielRPK. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

Which Moon Knight characters do we need to see again?

Considering Hollywood is just now getting back to work with the conclusion of both the Writer’s and Actor’s strikes, fans might have to wait a little bit longer for an official update. The direction Marvel itself wants to go has also been somewhat of a mystery, with the constant rumors of Kang the Conqueror’s involvement in future MCU projects.

But Moon Knight isn’t the only character we want to see more of in season 2. We can’t forget May Calamawy’s spectacular performance as Layla, who not only stepped up when times got tough, especially for her husband, but has become one of the newest heroes in the MCU as Scarlet Scarab.

How has Layla’s role as the Scarlet Scarab changed her life? Will we see both the Scarlet Scarab and Moon Knight fight villains in future MCU projects and stories?

Until we learn more from official sources, we’ll be rewatching Moon Knight season 1 on Disney Plus.
