News regarding anything The Walking Dead related has been limited, as both The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 1 and Fear the Walking Dead season 8 (series finale) concluded fairly recently. But what about a recent rumor that has been swirling about the internet regarding The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2?

Let’s be clear, this is a rumor until we hear an official confirmation from AMC, but the rumor is that Dead City season 2 will be filming in Massachusetts instead of the New Jersey/New York City area. The idea of a location change could be due to a multitude of factors, but we’re personally curious if it will change the story.

When we last left Maggie and Negan, she does successful rescue her son Hershel Jr. by exchanging him for Negan. By this point Negan figures out Maggie’s plan, but still willingly goes through with it.

Could there be a new direction for The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2?

Although he is confident The Croat will want him alive, he didn’t expect to meet the woman behind the whole operation, The Dama. Nor did he expect that the only reason she was so desperate to find him, was because she wanted him to essentially be the king of New York and bring all the communities together under one rule.

Meantime Maggie gives Hershel Jr. a rather vague promise about finishing things between her and Negan. Does she mean she will finally end the seemingly never-ending drama between them?

Or will Negan’s death be the only way she can finally move on? Considering the season 1 finale hints at Maggie and Negan reuniting again, with him as the future king of New York (a role he did not want but had no choice but to accept), we doubt the show will shift gears and focus on a new city like Boston.

Which can only mean that if the rumor is true, Boston will probably pose as New York City for the new season. To be fair, a majority of Dead City was not even filmed in New York City, but locations throughout New Jersey including Newark, Weehawken and Holmdel.

But let us know what you think about this rumor. Do you think the location change is a good or bad idea?

Why do you think the filming location changed? In the meantime, you can watch The Walking Dead: Dead City season 1 on AMC Plus.
