The Walking Dead Universe receives 3 Saturn Awards nominations

The Walking Dead Universe has once again received Saturn Awards nominations. This year, The Walking Dead spinoffs will compete against the likes of HBO The Last of Us, MGM+ From, Netflix Wednesday, HBO/Max House of the Dragon and Apple TV+ Silo.

As The Walking Dead has since concluded, it’s up to the spinoffs to take the reins and hopefully bring home some much-deserved awards. This year both The Walking Dead: Dead City and Fear the Walking Dead have been nominated.

The Walking Dead: Dead City and Fear the Walking Dead nominations are as follows:

  • Best Horror Television Series – Fear the Walking Dead
  • Best New Genre Television Series – The Walking Dead: Dead City
  • Best Actress in a Television Series – Lauren Cohan, The Walking Dead: Dead City

We were surprised to see so few nominations this year compared to last year. Especially considering the entire cast of The Walking Dead: Dead City absolutely deserved nominations for their unforgettable performances (especially Željko Ivanek).

Can The Walking Dead Universe bring in more nominations in the future?

We can’t forget The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon and the power and emotion Norman Reedus and Clémence Poésy consistently brought to the television screen episode after episode. As for Fear the Walking Dead, season 8 would be its last, with the series finale airing nearly a month ago.

For Dead City and Daryl Dixon, both spinoffs have been renewed for season 2, which could lead to more opportunities for nominations in the future. Let’s not forget The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live will be able to throw their hat into the ring next year, when the highly anticipated Rick and Michonne spinoff airs on February 25, 2024.
