Outer Banks returns for its final season on Aug. 20, 2026, and there are still many things fans want to see before the show ends.
After season 4's tense events, the Pogues are reeling from the shocking death of JJ and are still nowhere close to earning their treasure. With only one season left, there are a lot of loose ends to tie up and fen expectations to quell.
With season 5 just on the horizon, audiences are keen to see what happens to the beloved characters as the show wraps up with one final adventure.

Sarah's baby
Sarah Cameron (Madelyn Cline) shocked audiences with a pregnancy announcement in season 4. She and John B (Chase Stokes) have been an established couple since the first season, and this new step in their relationship was an exciting development for fans.
As of yet, little news surrounding her and John B's baby has been released, leaving viewers excited to learn more. Fans have been eagerly speculating the baby's name and gender, but audiences will have to wait until the show releases to find out more.

The return of Wheezie
The Cameron family has suffered a lot of unrest throughout the show, but there is one person absent - Sarah's younger sister, Wheezie. Wheezie was missing in season 3 and 4, but her actress, Julia Antonelli confirmed the character's appearance in season 5.
In an Instagram post, the actress posted about her last day on set, saying, "That's a wrap on Wheezie Cameron."
Wheezie was last seen in the season 2 finale and has not reunited with her sister since. With so much time passing in between seasons, Wheezie's appearance will be a welcomed sight. The three Cameron siblings will finally reunite and hopefully be able to grow back as a family. Fans will be excited to see the younger Cameron daughter return one last time for the final season.

Kiara getting revenge
Season 4 left off with a heart-wrenching goodbye to the fan-favorite JJ Maybanks (Rudy Pandow). After he was stabbed by Chandler Groff (J. Anthony Crane) in Morocco, JJ died in the arms of his girlfriend Kiara (Madison Bailey).
The season ended with the Pogues vowing to get revenge against Groff, setting up a major storyline in the final season. For fans of JJ, revenge is highly desired, and audiences can look forward to Groff paying for his actions. With the help of Rafe Cameron (Drew Starkey), it's likely that the Pogues will succeed in some way to honor their friend.

Flashbacks with JJ
JJ has been a staple character since the beginning of the show, and fans have had a hard time accepting that he's gone. His death was a shocking twist and added a new weight to the show's stakes. While it's not confirmed, there is speculation among fans that JJ might return to the show through flashbacks.
As it's the final season, it's possible that there could be a series of flashbacks surrounding the Pogues as they deal with their emotional last adventure. Fans would love to see JJ return one last time, even if it were only in a flashback.

The Pogues earning their reward
The Pogues have had their share of good and bad luck throughout Outer Banks. As it's the final season, what fans want to see most is the Pogues win and keep their treasure. Throughout the seasons, John B and his friends have struggled to keep ahold of their good fortune.
Whether they're unresponsible with their money or having to fight for their treasure with outside parties, the Pogues haven't been able to hold onto their rewards for long. Audiences want to see this show end on a positive note, and for the Pogues to finally win their riches (and keep them), that would be a perfect ending for this beloved show.
Outer Banks season 5 is available for streaming on Netflix on Aug. 20, 2026.
