Carrie episode 6, “Home Economics,” is a bit slower-paced at first compared to the others, but it starts laying the groundwork for what is to come. And the ending is wild, something that anyone who has been loving Prime Video’s Carrie series so far will feel satisfied with.

Trigger warning: This article mentions suicide.

We start with the woman from the documentary again, this time talking about how, for centuries, there have been people who claimed to see things beyond the veil of this world, mainly psychics, so much so that people have used it to get famous.

However, sometimes, it is hard to distinguish the true psychics from the fakes. She uses this example through someone who fakes being a psychic for money, but when a real one comes and scares him, he tells her she needs help and threatens to call the police. Thinking this is her last chance, she straight-up takes the glass that she broke herself and stabs herself in the eye, showing that she feels helpless. This, in turn, leads to Carrie (Summer H. Howell).

Carrie finds the hidden camera

After the video of Carrie talking to no one in her house goes viral at school, she runs home. Emaline (Thalia Dudek) tries to speak with her, but when Carrie tells her to go away, she disappears. Carrie tries to calm herself down and remembers how they got the footage in the first place—cameras.

She tears apart her room, only to find that her mother has hidden a camera inside the mannequin in her dressmaking room.

That same night, two important things happen. Margaret (Samantha Sloyan) comes home from work, and Carrie confronts her about the cameras. Margaret says a big reason was that she didn’t want Carrie to hurt herself, but Carrie comes at her and asks, genuinely, when she ever showed she was going to do that.

Carrie storms upstairs to her room, where Emaline again tries to speak to her, but Carrie tells her to leave after confronting the supposed ghost. Margaret hears all of it.

At the same time, Mr. Peist, also known by his first name Seth (Rahul Koli), is visibly stressed when he lets Rita (Amber Midthunder) in for a date night he forgot about. They've been a thing since that night they hooked up in the car. He gets tons of calls from someone Rita doesn't know, and it all relates to the post that was put up online about him and Rowan. Rita assures him everything will blow over soo and the truth will come out. She leaves later that night.

What happens to Chris next

In the last episode, Sue (Siena Agudong) turns Chris (Alison Thornton) in with the recording she took of her the night before. Chris is then sent to the principal's office, where Mr. Grayle (Matthew Lillard) and her father, John (Michael Trucco), go back and forth about the recording. John says they can’t prove it was her voice and threatens to sue; Mr. Grayle says the school could countersue based on everything Chris has done.

Mr. Grayle decides to suspend Chris and says the only way she can graduate with her classmates is if she admits what she did. But Chris is adamant that it wasn’t her, especially when her dad tells her not to admit it. Her mother is also there, but she isn’t the main conversationalist; John is.

Outside, Chris knows Sue turned her in, so in anger, she decides to post a picture of Sue buying the pregnancy test.

Meanwhile, Rita finds out Seth didn’t show up for school that day and looks visibly concerned. The photo also starts to spread, and Tommy (Joel Oulette) confronts Sue about keeping the pregnancy from him, saying he only wanted to be there for her.

The next day, Rita goes to Seth’s house to check on him and finds his door unlocked. When she steps inside, she finds three letters: one that is addressed to her, another to a family member, and another to Brooklyn (Rowan Danielle). Rita goes a little deeper into the house and discovers that Seth has hanged himself.

The backlash of Carrie Red

Seth’s death becomes big news on TV, with some saying Carrie Red was a good thing because it exposed a predator, but others say that it still should be taken down because it’s also causing unnecessary harm to others who had nothing to do with the situation. Rita speaks with Peter (Tim Bagley), and apparently that night, when she and Seth hooked up, Brooklyn stood him up.

Apparently, Brooklyn was going to tell her dad she was seeing Seth, and Seth felt there was no way out of it and killed himself. Rita is understandably heartbroken and confused, but Peter tells her no one could have seen this coming.

Chris and John try to get her back involved with graduation, and Mr. Grayle decides that if they can mediate this and publicly announce that Carrie and Chris have made up, the whole situation could stop. Margaret doesn’t want to do the mediation at first, but she does anyway, saying she would “let them” do the talking because she sees it as almost a power trip.

Carrie, on the other hand, wants all this to stop. She attempts to open up to her mother about how she’s feeling and how she believes she might have a mental illness because of Emaline, but Margaret is adamant that this doesn’t exist. This sparks another fight between them, where Carrie feels that even though she is asking for help, her mother refuses to give it.

In that moment, we flash back to when Carrie was young, and her mother stormed into her room after speaking to Stella (Naika Toussaint). During that screaming match with young Carrie, stones begin to fall on the house. Margaret speaks to Ralph about it (Tahmoh Penikett), but he says nothing’s wrong with Carrie and blames the government. It’s a big moment that shows that Margaret’s beliefs started back then.

How the Carrie/Chris mediation goes

The next day, the mediation begins. Carrie and Margaret are on one side, while Chris, John, Mrs. Hargensen (Heather Graham), and her new boyfriend are on another. And it… starts as well as you can imagine. They go back and forth, and at one point students burst open the door, telling Carrie to “give Chris hell” before Mr. Grayle shuts the door in their faces.

This again leads Grayle to say that if Chris admits what she did, they could move on and that there were options, but even the parents say it wasn’t just Chris doing all of this; others were involved, and it’s not that simple.

Outside the classroom, the students stage a walkout—or, really, it starts as a small school riot, but Sue uses “expel Chris Hargensen” to get them all to walk out so the group can use the hallways to leave the school when things get messy. While the adults duke it out, Chris sneaks off to the bathroom. Carrie does the same.

In the bathroom, Carrie confronts Chris. She asks why Chris picked on her and why she made her feel accepted when, in reality, it was all a lie. Chris is honest and says she doesn’t know and that she’s sorry that answer isn’t good enough, but that if she goes through and admits all of this and she’s expelled, then her life is destroyed and it’s all Carrie’s fault. Carrie doesn’t believe this for a second and tries to talk with her, but Chris walks out, visibly upset.

While in the mediation room, Mrs. Hargensen tries to have a one-on-one with Margaret, from one mother to another, saying she didn’t keep the world out of her daughter's life and that she should have done better but, to please, not do this to Chris.

Eventually, Carrie and Chris come back just as the news shows up outside the school. The adults agree to a public apology and wait for Chris to own up, but just as she is about to, Margaret tells her: “It’s not your fault that you are the way you are. Your mother said so.” Chris, visibly angered, doesn’t say sorry and instead curses at her. Carrie grows angry and also curses back.

Someone outside calls out that Chris has been expelled when it's confirmed online, and a real riot instantly begins. While Carrie leaves with her mother, some students cheer and others boo. Chris leaves with her father as many try to swarm her. At some point, someone throws something, and the riot turns violent, leading to several people getting hurt.

Carrie and Margaret remain relatively unscathed while John forces Chris and everyone else into a car to escape the brutality of the children.

Meanwhile, Tommy and Sue sit on the hill after the riot, reflecting. In that moment, he realizes she didn’t tell him about the baby because she doesn’t see him in her future, and they break up.

Back home, Carrie confronts her mother, telling her that Chris was going to say sorry. They go back and forth, and it builds to the point where Margaret tries to slap Carrie. However, Carrie uses her powers mid-slap, stops her mom, forces her into the prayer closet, and locks the door, declaring that things will change around there.
