Unfortunately, I was right about not knowing the entire truth by the end of Coven Academy episode 13. Miss Graves’ disappearance reveals the missing puzzle piece to the strange things happening at Coven Academy, New Orleans, and to Mary Roberts.
After the girls accuse Miss Graves of murdering Mary, they stay over at Ollie’s house and as far away from Miss Graves as possible, which isn’t hard after she “goes on the run.”
It’s time to try and put their differences aside as they celebrate Witchgiving at Sasha’s house. Due to many different circumstances, an unlikely bunch ends up trying to make nice at the dinner table. But, like any family-like situation, emotions always overflow to ruin the evening.
Mr. Cole’s truth revealed
Mr. Cole was the voice we heard calling for help from Mr. Cole’s basement. Let that sink in. Does he have a twin? No, worse. An enemy shape-shifted into him, stole his identity, took over his job, and hid him in a basement. He confirms to Emma that he doesn’t know how long he’s been there, except that one day he was in his classroom and then sent through a portal. Basically exactly like Emma, except she only just disappeared; according to everyone else, she ran away after being accused of murder.
With no magic, Mr. Cole and Emma are trapped with no way out, but through the door, their captor comes through.
As soon as Emma comes face-to-face with the Mr. Cole who tricked her and trapped her in a basement, she realizes she knows who took on her friend’s face.
After appearing on Tracker as FBI Agent Moss, Tahmoh Penikett flips the script for his role as William, the evil warlock holding a grudge in Coven Academy. William has been holding a grudge against Emma and her coven since their Winter Solstice all those years ago.
Although they bound his powers, somehow he got them back and honed them so he could get his revenge. Surprisingly, no one could tell Mr. Cole wasn’t himself, which makes him telling and teaching Jake the dark magic ways that much worse.
Witchgiving
Change is in the air as the girls get together for Witchgiving at Sasha’s. As they are cooking, Sasha’s mom starts putting together the main decoration. Briar instantly recognizes it as something her mom used to do every Thanksgiving. Although she hid her witch past, she still shared a special tradition with Briar with Witchgiving little touches.
During the thankful speeches, Briar reveals that Thanksgiving was sometimes just her and her mom while her dad was away. They would watch the parade and spend time together. She may not be here for Briar’s first magic-filled Witchgiving, but she gave Briar her best for as long as she could.
Briar isn’t the only one trying to put his demons behind him. Jake and McKenna are walking over to Sasha’s for Witchgiving as Jake becomes jumpy. McKenna guesses it is because of his fight with Briar, Sasha, and Teagan. Right before Sasha’s mom opens the door, he confesses he may have made a vampire very mad.
As he’s saying this, we see glimpses of Alexander lurking in the trees, watching them. Then, Ollie appears at the door, and Jake is even more frustrated. He doesn’t want a vampire anywhere near him, but it’s not his choice.
A little later in the kitchen, Sasha’s mom reveals she invited Ollie for the same reason Sasha invited McKenna and Jake: to have a chance to come together. Like it or not, they are each other’s family tonight. Sometimes you have to dine with someone you never thought you would.
That’s proven when Ollie says he’s thankful for the life he has now, as though his old life ended. As Briar goes, things get more emotional, and she runs out of the room. When she does, Jake takes another stab at Ollie, and Sasha has to pull him out.
Again, he takes a stab at someone, looking out for his changing moods, when he snaps at Sasha for them never working because she tries to read his mind. Their talk skyrockets his temper, and he escapes to get some air. He takes two steps out of the house, and Alexander announces his appearance with a threat.
