Picking up right where Crew Girl season 1, episode 2 left off, following Imogen and Josh's arrival, Josh gives Teagan a hard time about her house as a text comes through from a group text she’s not a part of. He puts on an act when Ella comes into the room, which impresses her much to Teagan's annoyance.

Teagan heads to the boathouse early to run drills for practice; the only issue is that none of the crew team has shown up yet. Instead of showing up to practice, the guys are helping Quaid send a message to a bully, who just so happens to be the principal’s grandson. Unfortunately, the guys all get detention after they're caught, which prevents them from making it to practice. Quaid is taken to the principal’s office with Coach Hayden, and Quaid makes it clear that Ethan wasn’t a victim, but the principal is not having it. With an unenthusiastic apology and Coach Hayden's help, Quaid is able to avoid suspension.

After detention, Baloo asks Perry for help in taking perfect photos and mentions how he has no thirsty photos to send back. Josh then invites all the guys to his birthday weekend, which he promises will be quite a spectacle complete with go-kart racing, MMA lessons, and then a private jet to Atlanta to see Kendrick. Cam surprises Teagan by agreeing to attend the party, and he mentions it’s a team thing as he points out to her that she never learned to be part of a team and won't be until she starts showing up for the guys.

Josh heads out to his grandfather’s office with his dad as Rich points out how the VP office could be his one day. Rich makes it clear that Josh's grandad expects him to lead, which is right on the nose as Josh's grandad informs him he’s about to train a new VP as he points out he needs a real leader as he calls in Ryder and his mom. He makes it clear this will be a competition between the pair and is clearly fanning the flames of this family rivalry.

After the meeting with his grandad, Britney surprises Josh with some Nobu, and she picks up on things not being okay. He tells her about how his grandad is turning this into a competition between him and Ryder. She asks what card he has to play to get back in good with his grandad, and he gets the idea to invite the board members to his party to impress them.

Later that night, Teagan has Quaid come over so she can babysit him to ensure he gets his homework done and stay out of further trouble. That's when Josh and Imogen show up to give Ella a new theme for the party. It’ll be a tribute to the Regis Airlines, a new theme, and triple the guest list, and it's still in six days. Imogen offers to double Ella’s fee for the party, and Ella accepts, though her face makes it clear she might be about to get in over her head.

Josh's party gives Teagan the chance to win over the guys

Ella pulls off a party and impresses Josh and his parents. As Josh and Teagan excuse themselves, Rich recognizes Ella and calls her the one that got away for Hayden. She's too distracted to continue the conversation as she realizes that the servers haven’t arrived. It turns out the servers never showed up, as she forgot to tell them about the new venue, and it’s going to be an hour before they show up. Thankfully, Teagan and Juliet are able to help lend a hand, and Hayden offers a hand behind the bar with Ella just before reinforcements arrive finally.

Ethan shows up with his grandma, and Teagan enlists the group for playing defense in tracking down Quaid and locking him in the supply closet so he doesn’t get in trouble. They’re not a fan of the plan and bail on her, leaving only Cam behind to help. She confronts him about leaving her hanging as he explains she doesn’t know what it means to be part of a crew. They might not like one another, but they have to look out for each other. If she doesn’t have their backs, they’ll never listen to her.

Josh works the room and smoozes the board members, while the rest of the guys give Teagan a hard time about her plan, pointing out how they hooked Quaid up with a girl from the party and it's working. Only it's not as they realize their plan didn’t work out, and they set off to search.

Teagan finds Quaid putting laxatives into a slice of cake and gets him to open up about why he’s singling Ethan out. He says you have to stop them before it gets too late and then tells her a story about how the bully at his old school led to more and more bullies. He didn’t stop them because he was just a little kid, but he’s not little anymore. She respects what he’s doing and tells him he can’t risk getting expelled as she takes the cake and delivers it to him.

After eating up the laxative-filled cake, Ethan races to the bathroom, and Teagan calls a truce with him. He agrees not to tell his grandma and to leave the freshmen alone, and she returns the toilet paper to him. The move wins Teagan major points with the guys, earning a spot in the group chat.

Sparks fly after Josh saves Teagan's life

Josh’s grandad shows up to the party and is taken back by the theme, which is all about celebrating the airline's legacy. That's why it's so surprising to Josh when he finds out his grandad is already leaving after only just arriving. Josh's grandad wasn't as impressed as he let on as he pointed out that Josh is following someone else’s rhythm. Before he goes, he mentions leaving his gift up front as Britney arrives to pull him out front to see the brand new sports car gifted to him.

Josh sends Britney back inside, as he seems to have chest pains, suggesting perhaps that the call he received in the premiere might have been connected to his health. Teagan comes outside and confronts him for having a lack of class. He throws her the keys to his new car and tells her to valet it; she tells him off instead and drives off with the car.

Teagan drives out to the boathouse and takes a boat out for a row, but she's clipped by a passing boat, falling into the water. Josh shows up in time to pull her from the waters and get her to shore as she finally comes to. She gives him a hard time, and he returns it. She realizes the party was for his grandad, and he admits that people think a family business is a family that runs a business, but it’s really the other way around. She suggests that maybe he’ll get lucky and his life will blow up like hers, as it worked for her. She thanks him for getting her out of the water and reminds him that she knows some guys who might want to have some real fun. They get the guys together for some karaoke and pizza.

As Josh and the crew come together, Imogen pulls Ella aside to fire her and makes it clear it wasn’t her decision; it was Richard's. She calls Richard a good man as Ella compares their situations and encourages Imogen not to lose herself in her marriage. Later, Hayden finds Ella outside as she’s about to leave. He points out that this wasn’t about her; it was Richard who is difficult. He snuck out some alcohol and invites her for some margaritas to end the night.

Back at the party, Baloo gets a thirst trap to his mystery man and finds out his new guy is on their rivals' team. He's not the only one dealing with some relationship drama, though, as Cam attempts to pull Teagan aside to ask her out, only for Josh to pull her up on the stage to sing a duet with him before Cam gets his question out. It's a move that will surely spell trouble for Josh and Teagan as the episode closes with Britney seeing Perry’s live stream just as Josh and Teagan take to the stage together and Britney is not happy at all by the sight.
