Hulu’s House of Stassi is giving Mean Girl 2.0 vibes, but fans love it

House of Stassi is giving Mean Girls energy, and fans are split. See why Stassi Schroeder's Beau Clark storyline has viewers turning on her.

As a long-time follower of Stassi Schroeder, I had a feeling she wasn't walking into her own reality show as a changed woman overnight. I remember her Vanderpump Rules days, when I just couldn't stomach her attitude. But my God, she had amazing one-liners. I still quote her: "I'm not really sure what I've done to you, but I'll take a Pinot Grigio." *Chef's kiss*

But 20-something-year-old Stassi wasn't the nicest. What I didn't expect was how quickly House of Stassi would reignite the exact mean girl energy that made her a Vanderpump Rules legend in the first place and how split fans would be on whether that's a good thing.

The queen bee is back, baby

Say what you want about growth, but House of Stassi proves some things don't change: Stassi is still the person in the room everyone's watching, still delivering those gut-punching takedowns with a smile that could cut glass, and still fully aware of the power she holds over her friend group. It's giving Mean Girls energy in the best (and messiest) way—that is, if Regina George grew up, had kids, and got a Hulu deal. I thought she may have evolved, but I quickly realized she is a genius. Why fix a recipe that isn't broken?

That type of fierce energy is exactly why viewers can't stop watching. There's something deeply satisfying about a reality star who isn't performing pure redemption for the cameras. If anything, the cameras are just an accessory because I think this is how the mother of two acts during her everyday life. Stassi isn't pretending to be soft. She's negotiating her return to fame, her friendships, and her marriage with the same sharp-chin confidence that made her a must-watch TV star a decade ago.

Why the mean girl energy still works

Here's what's always been true about Stassi: her cruelty comes with commentary. Her grudges have context. Even at her worst, she's narrating her own villain arc with enough self-awareness that you can't fully look away, which is exactly the Mean Girls 2.0 quality fans keep coming back for. If anything, Stassi is consistent, and reality TV fans love consistency.

Love her or side-eye her, Stassi Schroeder still knows how to hold a room at attention. Needless to say, I am already anticipating the announcement that a second season of House of Stassi is in the works. Don't let me down, Disney.
