Assane struggles to clear his name in season 4, episode 2 of Netflix's Lupin.
The episode opens with Lupin visiting his old shop. When Ben and Claire arrive, he sees the couple acting romantically. He's disappointed but still reveals himself to Ben. He needs his help.
At the police station, Guedira orders his colleagues to surveil Lupin's family. They point out that they need permission, but Guedira doesn't care. He's angry and wants Lupin back in custody immediately.
Meanwhile, Raoul is scrolling through negative comments about his dad when the cops arrive to search his house. Like Claire, Raoul insists his dad wouldn't have hurt Sofia, but Guedira remains unconvinced.
At the shop, Lupin and Ben work to figure out who's framing him. The real thief is imitating Lupin, so the two look up recent thefts to see if any match his old heists. They find several that match some of his most famous robberies. But Raoul arrives and interrupts their investigation.
The father and son have an awkward reunion. Raoul feels abandoned and doesn't trust his father. But Lupin says he's being framed. Their conversation is interrupted by the fake Lupin, who tells Assane to get rid of Raoul or else.
More determined than ever to find the copycat, Lupin goes back to talk to Ben, who has a lead on their whereabouts. He traced the other heists to a woman named Adele Kapoor. Ben wants to go straight to the police, but Lupin says it won't help. Adele Kapoor is dead.

Trouble in paradise
Meanwhile, Guedira visits Sofia in the hospital. He admits that he should have listened to her about Lupin. He gets distracted by a bouquet on the windowsill that seems to trigger a memory or idea.
Elsewhere, Lupin tracks down the woman who's been impersonating him on the phone. She asks how he found her, and he says he traced the earphone's signal. She admits that she framed Lupin but won't stop stealing. She has another heist planned for the following day.
Lupin tells her the police are on their way, but the woman proposes a deal. Lupin steals the ruby first, and she'll give him the code needed to access his deepfakes. If not, she'll keep playing games with him. But before he can agree, she disappears.
Lupin quickly leaves the hotel, but the police are on his tail. They catch up to him when he tries to cross a bridge. We then learn that the fake Lupin left Guedira a note in Sofia's flowers, asking him to meet.
The real Lupin insists on his innocence and tries to point Guedira in the direction of the real thief, but the detective doesn't believe him. Left with no other choice, Lupin jumps into the river and escapes.
The next day, he and Ben research the new heist. The fake Lupin wants to steal a ruby called The Angel's Heart. Ben wants to call the police, but Assane says they won't believe them. He has to go and stop the thief himself. He's confident the young woman will make a mistake in her rush to play games.
Claire isn't happy that Ben has a "work commitment," but he lies, saying he's only going to help an old client. Raoul says Claire should tag along, but Ben shuts the idea down. He doesn't want her to know about his involvement with Lupin. Just then, Claire receives a bouquet from "Ben" and a note asking her to meet him at the Eiffel Tower.
Enter: Adele Kapoor
Later, Ben and Lupin arrive at the Eiffel in style. Unfortunately, the fake Lupin hacks the guest list and prevents Asanne from entering through the front door. But he has a backup plan. He steals an electrician's uniform and enters through the back door.
Once inside, the fake Lupin continues to make things difficult by blocking his security access. Eventually, he climbs up the side of the Eiffel Tower to access another floor. Once there, Lupin resumes his old disguise, and the actual mission begins.
However, Claire arrives at the event, forcing Ben to deal with her while Lupin keeps an eye out for the real thief. Things take a turn when the fake Lupin starts messing with the elevator holding Ben and Claire. This forces Assane to pivot and do everything he can to save them.
His plan works, and he confronts the fake Lupin. Her real name is Adele Kapoor. She faked her own death to pose as Lupin and frame Assane for her crimes. But Adele won't be caught easily. Instead, she uses her winged dress to fly off the side of the Eiffel Tower and escape.
The police then catch up to the real Lupin, who has photos of Adele stealing the ruby. It turns out he was one step ahead of her the entire time.
But the fake Lupin isn't done yet. The ending reveals who she's working for: Pellegrini's daughter, Juliette.
Lupin is available to stream on Netflix.
