Assane and Adele take on the Guardians in season 4, episode 5 of Netflix's Lupin.

The episode opens with the fallout from Juliette's death. Assane pulls Adele from the crime scene, and the two make a run for it. He knows that if the police find her, they'll take both of them to jail.

Meanwhile, Raoul and his crew break into a car dealership and steal two cars. The youngster enjoys the thrill of the theft, screaming in excitement as he and his new friends drive away.

Once Assane and Adele are safe, they get a phone call. The stranger on the other end of the line tells them that Adele is to blame for her mother's death. They also threaten to kill her if she doesn't give up her treasure hunt.

Adele wants revenge, but Assane tries to get her to let it go. But Adele says that she'll get her revenge with or without his help. Eventually, Assane agrees to help but says they'll do things his way.

The next day, Claire and Ben argue about Raoul's erratic behavior. He didn't come home last night, and Claire worries that he's gotten himself into trouble. Ben assures her that Raoul is becoming an adult and that she shouldn't worry. Claire wants to call Assane to let him know, but Ben advises her against it.

The two make plans to talk later.

Lupin comes out of retirement

Meanwhile, Assane shows Adele around his shop. She's excited to be in the same place where he planned all his famous heists. Assane is even happier to show her.

Raoul gets his cut of the stolen car money but sees his dad has been trying to call him. He leaves a message saying that he's fine, but Assane is still worried. Sensing his concern, Adele reassures him that Raoul's behavior means he's most likely not in danger.

They then work to recover the gems Juliette was carrying. They need the gems to find Louis XVI's treasure. The only problem is that Juliette was the only one who knew the legend.

Assane proposes they find Louis's crown instead, but it was auctioned off years ago. Thankfully, the place where it was auctioned off has files on everyone who bought something at one of their auctions. It goes back 200 years.

Assane plans to attend one of the auctions and access the storage room. While he distracts the manager, Adele slips into the room and photographs the documents. A delivery address listed in the files reveals a museum in the city.

Meanwhile, Guedira is leaving work when he overhears the police commissioner on the phone talking about killing Adele and Assane. She and the person on the other end of the line are after the treasure, too.

The next day, Assane and Adele discover that the Guardians hid the Crown in the King's Household at the Hotel de Invalides. Guards are stationed everywhere, so they won't be able to get in easily, but Assane has a plan.

The master of disguise dresses up as General Dumas and stands in an archway. The police watch him on surveillance when their cameras suddenly go out. This gives Lupin time to fade into the crowd. He reappears on camera, but there are multiple patrons dressed just like him. The police stop each one to check their identities, but to no avail.

Just then, a series of old military cannons erupts, and museum patrons scatter. The police keep a close eye on the crown, fearing Lupin will make his move at any moment.

Eventually, the police realize their surveillance camera is on a loop. But by the time they've gotten to the place where the crown is being held, Assane and Adele have already stolen it.

Assane finds trouble

On their way out of Les Invalides, Guedira stops them. He informs them that his commissioner is hunting them. She likely works for the Guardians.

Assane tries to keep Guedira out of it, but he wants to be involved. He says he's Assane's friend and presses him for information. Adele tells him that the Guardians are after them, but Guedira wants to know who pushed Sofia. Adele doesn't know, and she and Assane say they have to go.

Back at the shop, Assane and Adele plan to return to Juliette's house to get the gems. Adele says it will be weird to go back there, but Assane assures her that her mom would be proud.

Just then, Assane gets a call from Claire about Raoul. He rushes to their house and confronts his son about his behavior. Raoul says his parents have no right to judge him, considering they lied to him for years. Assane apologizes for lying about the trip, but Raoul won't hear it.

He says he's a good thief now and wants the two to work together as Lupin. Assane refuses; Lupin is over. He tells Raoul that the path he went down made everyone suffer. It's not the type of life he wants for his son.

Raoul walks out, but Lupin goes back to talk to Claire. She says that this is the first time she's seen him act like a father. Assane smiles and says he has to go. He has plans to meet Adele at Juliette's house.

Meanwhile, Adele sneaks into Juliette's house and finds men dressed in black stealing the gems. They see her in the doorway and chase her around the house. Assane arrives just in time and saves her. Adele tells him about the gems, but he tells her to go while he takes care of the men.

The episode ends with Assane being tased and falling to the floor, unconscious.
